How to create a DLL like win32 API in .Net

Hi,

Is there a way to create a dll in .Net like win32 API dll's. My concern is
that i want to create DLL's so that other tools like Powerbuilder may be
able to call functions from that dll like they do from win32 api.

Thanks.

Not in the normal sense of DLLs that export functions, no. .NET can only
create managed DLLs that can be used from other managed applications.

VC++.NET *can* do this, but it has nothing to do with .NET per se.

Hello Perl gurus, 1. I have a web page where I can push a button (dospawn.html). 2. This button calls a CGI script (spawnboss.cgi) 3. spawnboss.cgi calls a forking perl script (forkme.pl) 4. forkme.pl calls the process creation script (createme.pl) 5. createme.pl creates my notepad.exe process, but no window shows up on my PC. The result on my web browser is:

hy, I've got a quite simple application: one windows form that consists of a button, and as soon as the user hits the button a second form shall appear. The difficult thing about it is that I want the new form to be created as "deactivated" - that means that the second form has an editbox in it, and this must NOT have the focus - instead, the calling form shall keep its focus. One simple way would be to immediately set focus back...

I have what I think is an "unmanaged DLL" that I access from within C# using the construction: public static extern ushort sbs_init_device(ushort DevNum, ushort queue_length, ushort bsm_length, SBS1553Classes.SBS_FIRMWARE_SOURCE firmware_source); There are no object oriented constructions here and the code is actually C (not C++). I would like to create a "phony" version of this

Hi folks, I'm looking at moving a large base of C++ code to .Net under tight time constraints. The code runs in mission-critical environments, and I am extremely concerned about the loader lock problem and the potential for deadlocks. After pouring over the available information, and trying a few experiments, I am still left with a few questions and issues I hope someone out there can shed some light on.

Hello all, I am a new Perl programmer. Below is the beginnings of a code that I am using to manipulate an Excel spreadsheet via Perl using win32::OLE. However, what I'd like to do is the following: instead of either opening a file or creating a new one, I'd like to do BOTH. I was thinking of creating a loop where I could basically say something like: if $excelfile exists, then open $excelfile, otherwise, create a new workbook named...

I was under the impression that frames could be used in Windows forms in earlier version of VB. However, in VB 2005 Express I don't see any such tool/control. Is SplitContainer used for this purpose in VB 2005? I want to create a frame in a Windows form because I'd like button clicks on the left side of the form to change the form elements shown in the right side of the form. Would each of the buttons on the left require a...

Is it possible? Bestcrypt can supposedly be set up on linux, but it seems to need changes to the kernel before it can be installed, and I have no intention of going through whatever hell that would cause. If I could create a large file that could be encrypted, and maybe add files to it by appending them and putting in some kind of delimiter between files, maybe a homemade version of truecrypt could be constructed. Any idea what it...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
