I want to create, via inheritance, my own UI control and use it in place of
the stock .NET control in order to make system wide changes easily.
For instance, I would inherit from Forms.Button and make a new class
MyButton. My app would then use MyButton everywhere instead of Forms.Button.
If I wanted a new look-and-feel, I could override the default attributes
from within the MyButton constructor (e.g. color, etc...).
However this...

I am having trouble adding some of my existing controls to my toolbox
in VS.NET. Here's what is going on:
1). I have an existing project that is a Windows Control Library with
a bunch of controls.
2). I start a new solution and create an Application
3). I add the existing project with my controls to the solution, then
create the reference.

I frequently define internal UserControl-derived classes in my WinForms
apps:
internal class MyUserControl:UserControl{
...
}
I'll often need to embed these controls in a Form, whose class is
contained in the same assembly as the control. As far as I know, the only
way to do this using the designer is to add the UserControl-derived object

when i create a c# class that inherits from a control, i'm not completely
sure how to reference it in the ide. i reference it in the project, but i
also want it to show up in the toolbox.
when a control is created in vb, i can right-click the toolbox, click
Add/Remove Items and then set a reference to the <project>\bin directory.
this allows me to make changes to the control, and the changes will show up
in debug or release mode of the...

I have created a UserControl and added it to my toolbox. It appears in
the toolbox with the icon I created for it. The problem is that when I
drag the control onto a form no code is generated. If I manually add
the code for creating the control to the form everything works fine. I
have created other controls w/o problems and cannot see anything I am
doing different in this case.
Does anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong?

I'm creating a custom control. To start, I created the control in a
seperate project in the same solution. I didn't change anything from
the template vs.net creates for a web custom control, I wanted to add it
to the toolbox and make sure it worked before I started making my
changes.
Well, I've added it to the toolbox, but when I try to drag it from the
toolbox to the webform, my cursor turns into a circle with a slash
accross it and...

Hi All,
I have a web application where I am adding a custom attribute to my ASP.NET
text box control and changing value of that attribute at client side using
JavaScript. My problem is that changed value of that custom attribute is not
reflecting back at server side. Any ideas about this problem?
Server side code:
private void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (this.IsPostBack == false)

Hi all,
This is my first time trying to creaet and use a custome Web Control in a
Web Site project in ASP.NET 2.0 with VS 2005 and VB. I created the control
in a separate Web Control Library project. The original code for that
control was written in VS 2003 for .NET 1.1.
I created a Web Project and pulled the VB module into the project. I
compared the syntax to the VB template classs that was built and it looked
very similar. I then...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
