Hi,
I'm working with .resx files for a multilanguage application and so far it
has worked
perfectly. However, now I want to add more attributes to the xml schema and
read
them at running time. ie: I want to programatically generate forms and
validate
their input fields according to the data stored on a resource file. Here is an
example:

Getting resource files to work with VS2002 and ASP.Net seems to be a little
flaky. I've added a resource file "strings.resx" to the project. The
properties of the files say Build action = "embedded resource". I've added
the appropriate code to the Global.asax:
protected void Application_Start(Object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Application = new
ResourceManager("strings",Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly());
}

Hi all,
I have a very strange problem with my resource files. I have build an
applicatie which uses resource files, but for some reason only the default
language works as it should. I use the following code to retrieve resources:
This code is in the TextResource.vb file:
Public Class TextResource
Private objResourceManager As ResourceManager

Hi,
I have a piece of code as follows:
Protected OBJLibraryManager As ResourceManager
Protected OBJLanguageManipulator As LanguageManipulator
OBJLibraryManager = New ResourceManager("MyProject.Library",
System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly())
*OBJLanguageManipulator = New LanguageManipulator(Session("Language"))

Let's say that I've built an assembly called MyApi.dll with two
different language resource files, one called DefaultResource.resx
(which is my english resource file), and a german resource file called
DefaultResource.de.resx. However, I would like both of these files to
live inside MyApi.dll. Inside MyApi.dll, I have a ResourceManager that
is loaded using:
new System.Resources.ResourceManager("MyNamespace.DefaultResource",...

This may seem a little strange, but in all my years of developing Windows
Forms apps, I've never really used Resource files; however, I would like
to start doing so in order to store icons, pictures, and most importantly,
error message strings in resource files so I don't have to go searching for
them inside the code (if I want them changed).
I know VS 2005 makes it MUCH easier to use and create resource files, but
in my few times I have...

Centralized resource files
Hi,
We are considering to migrate our custom asp.net localization procedure, to
one that stored .Text properties of controls in a SQL database, towards the
usage of standard resources (hence .resx files). Plain Resx files do not seem
to be a very scalable solution: We have dozens of servers and we do not want
to access all servers to deploy files in case of minor changes in the
personalized text. So we need...

Hi,
Trying to access some resource files that I originally created in a C# proj.
Added a copy of the "String1.resx" file to the VB project then opened My
Project and added the file to the resources.
This seemed happy enough in that it created a text file icon in the
resources panel.
But I am lost as to how to access it.
In C#
I would create a resource manager using a reference to the file in the
constructor.

Hey All,
I am building a solution which will have many strings that will need to be
localized (i.e. strings for toolbars, strings for different WinForms,
strings for messages and error messages, etc.).
I am having trouble accessing string file resources.
What I want to do is to break out strings into separate files so that they
are easier to manage and such that I don't have to look through hundreds to

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
