serialization problem : java to C# conversion

Hi
I have converted the code from Java to C#, using .net tool

The Base Class implementes ISerializable interface. Which makes me implement this interface in all inherited class, In order to get the serilization work

I can't use just [Serializable] attribute, as it doesn't support versioning

Is there any work around? So inherited class don't implement ISerialzable interface, but still I can serialize inherited class

Is there any other way to serialize other than [Serializable] attribute or ISerializable interface

Thanks

Hello, It seems to me to be in some kinda trouble. I wanted to implement communication between Java applet and Server through sockets and Serialization. So, I serialize Object, send it to server which deserialize it with no problems. In other direction problems came out since Object serialized under Java 1.4.1 seems to be not deserializable under Java 1.1.4. (MS VM). If applet si run under J2, there are no problems, but I cannot push...

Is there an official specification for .NET serialization? I've looked at the .NET framework docs and read Jeffrey Richter's MSDN articles, but I'm looking for something more complete, corresponding to the specification of Java serialization found at http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.2/docs/guide/serialization/spec/serialTOC.doc.html

Hi, I'm not sure that if this is the right forum, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I am porting some java serialization code to c# and I can't figure out the correct way to do it. It seems that either I can use default serialization or implement ISerializable. Is there any way to do both (e.g. extend the default serialization). In other words, I want to be able to implement my custom serialization code but call the...

Hello, I have two Java applications that exchange serialized objects. Although I would like to ultimately convert both to C# it's a pretty monumental task, especially for someone just learning both langauges. I thought it might be more reasonable to start with simply converting the simpler one of the two and getting it to work. I have used Microsoft's free Java to C# converter to convert most of the code, but of course I must...

Hello, We are at a very crucial decision making stage to select between .Net and Java. Our requirement is to download a class at runtime on the client computer and execute it using remoting or rmi. Just to keep my question short I am posting trimmed version of my code. //file: Serializable.cs

I was running some tests on my Win32 1GHZ processor to see how long it would take to transmit objects numerous times via TCP/IP using C# ..NET Remoting vs the C++ trustworthy method of binary streams. I ran the test for 50K, 100K, 500K iterations, where each iteration consists of sending an object from a client process to a server process, and the server process sends back an ack. Here are the results: .NET Remoting C++...

Hi all, I have a healthy class defined that happily serializes and deserializes from the underlying XML file. The problem I hit is that, as soon as I add an implicit conversion in any of the classes (I'm converting from my class into OleDbParameter), the deserialization fails. The following is the error displayed when the code fails during ASPX (C#) processing:

I get the following exception when my VB.NET app calls a Java web service that returns an array of objects. The same call works for a single object though. So looks like there is no problem serializing the object but there seems to be a problem serializing an array of objects. Introduction Upon hearing the word, "Serialization", the first question which comes to mind is ... "What is Serialization?" We know that we can create resusable objects in Java. But the lifetime of those objects lasts only as long as the Java virtual machine is running. Once we close the JVM, we lose all those objects. What if someone wants objects to be available after JVM restarts? This is where Serialization comes into play. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
