Dotfuscator problem with c# dll's

RA
Hi

I have a c# project who load some other c# assemblies.
I took one of the dll assemblies and ran the Dotfuscator and produce the
output assembly.
I added this assembly to the project (add reference) and the project doesn't
compile. It doesn't recognize the new added assembly. Whats wrong? Do I have
to use the Dotuscator on the entire project or can I have only some of its
assemblies Dotfuscator?

Thanks

Hi RA,

The obfuscation phase should be done at the end, just before shipping, you
have control over that you obfuscate so you can leave the public interface
as normal , you need to check the documentation and even the preemtive
forums.

Cheers

Hi, I am building an application that uses Steema's TeeChart. When I run my app through the dotfuscator it breaks the executable (saying something about not finding the strongly named TeeChart dll). Any advice? Thanks, John

I have a solution with 6 or so projects, some dts dll's, a couple images, etc. I have a working setup project that creates a nice installation msi. Cool. Now I want to obfuscate my .exe and my .dll's, & have the Setup project build using the obfuscated files. I manually copy the obfuscated files back into each project's obj/release folder. Then I build the setup project (while not re-building anything else, of course). That seems to...

I have a dll created from an asp.net component I wrote. I want to distribute it to other developers but I'm told it can be reverse engineered. I read the docs on dotfuscator thinking that this could add protection. The docs say that to run it from vs.net to run it from the external tools menu then follow the gui. The External Tools dialog box comes up, I highlight Dot&Fuscator Community Edition, Hit OK and nothing happens. What am I...

How can we obfuscate without disabling renaming and using a setup project a project which includes a custom dll? If I attempt to do so after I change the reference path to the obfuscated dll the project bombs. If I disable renaming it appears to work, but the project simply looks like it was never obfuscated.

Apologies if this seems to be a silly question, but... .... is there anything that can be done to stop other people from using your DLLs? For example, if you have a solution with three projects: two applications and a class library, when the applications compile you end up with an exe and a dll. Since VB doesn't implement linking so that the dll can be embedded in the exe, it must be distributed as is. What is to prevent anyone from...

The PreEmptive Dotfuscator 3.0 (professional version) in evaluation mode works for 14 days. It dotfuscates .exe and .dll (common .dll and aspx .dll) . Dotfuscator scrambles the original code and it adds new code to the original code. The resulting dotfuscated file, in your opinion,

Is there is a better newsgroup for this question? I am having a problem linking assemblies into one using Dotfuscator Pro 4.0. The problem occurs when linking the following into one exe: program.exe A.dll (references C.dll, but was built when C.dll was versioned 1.1) B.dll (references C.dll, but was built when C.dll was versioned 1.2) C.dll (current version, 1.2)

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
