Hi MCzajk,

Maybe you also like to consider using a Winlogon
notification package that is notified of logon/log-off events.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...ogon_notificat
ion_packages.as p?frame=true

Hi all, I have created an ASP script that enters data into an Access Database. My problem is that I'd like this script to run when the computer is shutdown or the user logs off. I think this would be simple enough if the ASP didn't have any user input, but it does.

I have written a windows service that needs to perform certain functions only if a User is logged in. The problem I am running into is that I get an error if the computer is in the process of being shut down or restarted. At all other times, the service runs just fine. I need to either detect a logon/logoff event OR check somehow as to whether there is currently a valid logged on user. The closest I have found is ManagementEventWatcher...

This is an appeal for peer support sent to Microsoft as will be noted in closing. The Login control does not include a Cancel button. The only option is to convert the Login control to a template which is not such a bad thing in itself but it means all other controls in the application must also be converted to templates to maintain a consistent UI. So much for writing 70% less code when foolish morons release a control with no cancel...

Hi all, I'm implementing a windows service (running with local system account) which has to do some tasks when users logon/logoff. How can the service register to those logon/logoff-events? I'm using .NET 1.1 and C# and the service will be installed on machines with os >= W2K. If you have any solution or hint tracking down this problem please let me know!

Dear list, In the corporation, we want to know who is using which computer, and do some phone routing based upon this information. When a user log's uses it's account to login, the phone on the desk should also ring on the same desk. When the user leave's / sleeping, we dont want the phone to ring, so we want to detect this also. By using a service i can keep a program running, without irritating the users with icon's / message's at...

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the following code? The code has to watch for logon/logoff events: public void StartListenLogon() { EventHandler handler = new EventHandler(); WqlEventQuery query = new WqlEventQuery(); query.EventClassName = "__InstanceOperationEvent"; query.WithinInterval = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 3);

I have a Windows Service that should pop a windows form right before logoff, for the user to enter some information. I got things working fairly well except that the user does not get to see the form before logoff. But I know that it run properly because when I log back in the form is there and works fine. So the form opened and run, but windows was already in the "logoff" screen with no desktop showing, so I missed the form. Is there any...

I'm trying to write a service that will sit on the domain controller (or, if this proves to be impossible, to be rolled to all connecting Windows machines). It needs to get notification of each logon and logoff, capturing username & IP address. I've currently got a test application to check the inputs & outputs and the business logic is using EventLog_OnEntryWritten to trap 538's & 540's. Unfortunately (and peculiarly) a physical logon...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
