Deployment Properties

I have a deployment project that seems to work, but I
can't find the Deployment Properties (such as Author,
FriendlyName, Description, etc.), as described in the
documentation.
I highlight the project in the Solution Explorer, then go
to the property page. I see "Build" properties, but none
of the expected Deployment properties, as indicated above.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dennis

Hi,

It works fine on mine (tested two)
I click the setup project in the solution explorer, hit F4 ( Show
properties) and I have all the optins that you want.
Cheers,

In the setup project I am trying to create, I am wanting to search to see if DirectX 8 is installed on the local machine. I figured the best way to determine would be a registry key search, so I add one. The problem comes in with the properties for the registry key search. The properties are RegKey and Value. In viewing the registry editor, the registry key is Software\Microsoft\DirectX. Within that, you have a value name and a value...

I'm working with VS.NET 2003 and .NET 1.1 (not SP1) on Windows XP SP1. My application is using the Windows Installer Bootstrap. (I may have also installed a module which detects requirements (.NET 1.1 -> MsiNetAssembly Support.) I have a few issues and questions regarding the MSI and its properties. * This may be my biggest annoyance at the moment. When the installer creates the target directory, it's setting them as read-only. When the...

I'm new to C# deployment project way of doing things and have run into a problem with a deployment project that has me stumped. I've put together a deployment of a project which works just fine for new installations but fails if the project has already been deployed. What I'd like for it to do is to ask if it should upgrade/repair/uninstall. Instead, it says that the user must remove the project before the installation can execute. What...

I have a VB windows forms application that accesses a Microsoft Access database that has been secured using user-level security. The application is being deployed using No-Touch deployment. The objective in utilizing this new deployment method is to reduce the maintenance overhead as well as making it easier for my users to setup and run the application initially. I have VS 2002, Windows XP, Access XP(2000 format). He is my problem....

I have looked and looked for on the property pages for my Window form project and do not see where they are saying I should find the place to set deployment properties like: Manufacturer ManufacturerUrl ARPURLINFOABOUT URL for an application's home page. ARPURLUPDATEINFO URL for application-update info. Where are they hiding?

In my project, I want to display the version number on the splash screen and in the help section of my application. I have a variable I created called appVersion. When I go to my deployment project properties, the Version number is there. Is there a line of code that I can use where I can assign the version number to the appVersion variable, something like "appVersion=system.deploymentapp.properties.version" but that actually works? Many...

The service is written is Visual Basic.NET version 1.1. The service is scheduled to run once an hour. I apologize in advance for the lengthy message but wanted to include as much information as possible. Any insight/assistance would be appreciated. The following line of code throws an error when I execute my application using the output generated from a web deployment project. I have specified "merge all outputs to a single assembly." If I use the "publish web site" option, the application works fine. If I run the application within...

On reflection, you could possibly make the app a self extracting zip file which extracts the EXE and a settings file and then starts the app, then when you app closes, it can repack the settings file and itself into the exe. You would probably want a tool for this bit which could be in the zip too. So the app isnt single exe when running but when not running, it is. Just an idea for you to think about. Another option would possibly be to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
