C# Printing: PrintPreview draws so slowly?

I have a segment of very simple code, which basically initializes a
PrintPreviewDia log, a PrintDialog and a PrintDocument. Then I
implement the PrintPage event Handler for the PrintDocument. What I do
is just draw a string using the graphics object in the eventargs. But
my problem is, when I open the PrintPreviewDia log, how come it takes
like 2 secs to draw the print preview.. even when it only contains a
string. did I do anything wrong?

btw, in some newsgroup posting I saw someone overriding the
OnPrintPage method instead of adding a PrintPage event handler. does
that improve performance?

Hello, I have a concern. I have created a small printing framework and it is taking a lot of memory. Simply put, the framework iterates through objects that implement a "printable" interfaces. Each object provides an image represented by a System::Drawing::Image*, the framework then "draws" these images on pages to print. Everything is done in memory, nothing comes from disk. I am using GDI+ classes to draw, and creating a printpreview

Good morning, I have a print routine where I use a "printpreview dialog' control. The text is perfect BUT when I then print the job all the text is completely crazy, a bit like "wingdings".

Hello, I have an application written in C# on visual studio .NET. It is a web aplication. The application consists of many different forms, that users occassionaly want to print out for filing. When they log to application (through web browser) and choose the print option, on the right margin few cm get cut off (so some fields do not print out). Is there any function that ensure that when user pritns he gets the

Hello all, Because you have been so helpfull the last couple of times, I thought after testing and wasting more than 20 pages (and google-ling for 3 days :-( ). I would ask you again for your help. The problem is this: If I print a rectangle which begins at (0,0) and the margins are also set to 0 (l:0, t:0, r:0, b:0) then it prints fine (ok, not quite because 0,0 is inside the none printable area but I corrected for that by checking...

I am right now involved in a vb to vb.net migration. Can you help me in giving me hints/tips in converting statements like: Printer.CurrentX = (Printer.ScaleWidth - Printer.TextWidth(strTmp) - LEFT_MARGIN - RIGHT_MARGIN) / 2) + LEFT_MARGIN There are too many similar instances, where positions are calculated, where printing should happen. It will be of great help to me if anyone can throw some light on this. Thanks in advance. Awaiting an...

Well, hopefully that title get someones attention. In this old gwbasic program I've converted I *have* sucessuflly converted it to print to a file and the output is acceptable. From there I have printPreview and (what is it) PrinDocument working. All of the references I've found (to include several books) show that method of printing ... my question - is it not possible to print the document 'on the fly' to allow proper paging, page...

I am trying to print a graphic file (tif) and also use the PrintPreview control, the PageSetup control, and the Print dialog control. The code attached is a concatination of two examples taken out of a Microsoft book, "Visual Basic,Net Step by Step" in Chapter 18. All but the bottom two subroutines will open a text file, and then allow me to use the above controls, example 1. The bottom two subroutines will print a graphic file, example...

The method for printing documents in .Net can be confusing, especially for newer users. I would like to create a way to simplify this process. My idea would be implemented using a PrintDocument (much like the current model), but my PrintDocument would have a Pages collection such that each time you need to have an additional page, you would just add another page to the collection and then use the page object for the actual drawing etc. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
