With the recent MDAC security warning I now have the task of deciding
if my company of 9000 desktops should push out an MDAC 2.8 package and
upgrade all the machines or simply distribute the MDAC security patch?
I'm an not a DBA by any stretch of the imagination. I would like to
upgrade the MDAC but am I correct in saying that there could
potentially be a problem with that if the MDAC on the server side
isn't compatible....let's say 2.7...

I'm having problems using the DB2 Connect ODBC Driver in my SQL Server
2000 DTS packages. It started occuring after installing MDAC 2.7
(which is necessary for the .NET framework). This error occurs when I
try to open the transformation that uses an ODBC Connection object
that is pointing to the DB2 ODBC. Has anybody else seen this or has a
solution other than re-installing everything and not loading the .net
framework mdac 2.7. I...

Hi
I am deploying a winforms app via the windows installer and a VS.Net 2003
setup and deploymnet project.
At the moment, I am adding launch conditions for the .Net Framework 1.1 and
MDAC 2.7 or higher, and am prompting the user to run the relevant setup
files if they're missing. I'm including these setup files on the CD.
I can't work out from the Data Access downloads page, which MDAC file I need

Hi!
I have a windows forms application and , what I basically do is:
1.- Instanciate a DataSet.
2.- Instanciate a XMlDataDocument attaching the DataSet to it.
3.- Load XmlDataDocument with a local XML document (C:\mydoc.xml)
2.- Bind it to a Datagrid.
That is all!

Hi: I am developing an application using FoxPro 2.x tables. My client
has AccessXP. AccessXP uses Visual Foxpro ODBC to connect to tables.
It does not accept the ISAM Foxpro driver used in A97.
I have a problem that when I link to the tables on the client machine
AccessXP does not recognize boolean values in the FoxPro tables. I
assume this is due to the ODBC driver. I'd like to test this out on my
development machine.
I...

I need advise. Are there any implications when installing MDAC 2.5 on top of
MDAC 2.6 RTM?
The applications on client pc's will only be running MS Access.
Reason of the downgrade is the server where I pull data from (SQL Server)
have MDAC 2.5.
Will it be safe to do a straight install without having to uninstall 2.6
first?

I'm trying to add simple database functionality with a Windows Forms app I'm
building. FYI my development machine is running Windows XP Pro, with all the
service packs installed.
First I tried using the standard OLEDB connection string (ie.
"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0...") but got this message when it tried to
open the connection:
"The .Net Data OLE DB Provider(System.DAta.OleDb) requires Microsft Data
Access Component(MDAC)...

I made a VB.Net application that connects to some Oracle Databases, on my
machine (W2K latest SP and pathes, VS2003) the application runs fine.
On my machine I had MDAC 2.5xx installed.
When I try to run my installer application on a different computer (w/o .NET
installed, but after installing the .NET Framework), I get an error. The
specific error is: "The .Net Data OLE DB Provider (System.Data.OleDb)

Hi,
When writing database program with VB.NET that accesses MDB and XLS file, do
you guys know if I still need to distribute MDAC and JET4 to the client
machine?
Or .NET framework already comes with all those drivers?
Thanks!

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
