I am able to create new sources using CreateEventSource.
I can call GetEventLogs, I can delete sources, I can see
if sources exist BUT, as soon as I try a "WriteEntry", I
get an exception:
{System.InvalidOperationException}
:
{System.InvalidOperationException}
HelpLink: Nothing
InnerException: {System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception}

Hi!
I'm working with a C# client that calls a php web service. I've
created a wrapper to call the service using .NET wsdl tool (adding a
web reference).
The call to the server works fine, it is serialized correctly, and the
server returns a response (I've captured the response and it's
correct!) but when the .NET deserialize this response, it throws the
exception "System.InvalidOperationException: There is an error in XML

I have a webservice that I wanted to return an ArrayList..Well the service
compiles and runs when I have the output defined as ArrayList, but the WSDL
defines the output as an Object so I was having a problem in the calling
program. I searched online and found suggestions that I return an Array
instead so I modified my code (below) to return an Array instead of an
ArrayList. Now I get the message when I try to run just my webservice...

I created a Web Service: I imported System.Data.SqlClient so I could
access SQL server tables programmatically. The web service builds and
deploys with no problems. When I try to add the corresponding Web
Reference to the Web Site project I get the error listed below.
I am able to create other Web Services on the same server and I am able
to add Web Referneces to them. I have narrowed it down to the "Imports
System.Data.SqlClient"...

System.InvalidOperationException: WebServiceBindingAttribute is required on

My environment: Visual Studio 2005, targeting FX 2.0; I've developed a Web
Service which uses DIME to transfer file attachments to and from the server.
I'm using WSE 2.0 SP3 which is supposed to support FX 2.0, as far as I know.
(We will soon move on to MTOM, however I'm stuck with DIME for now; the
solution was originally written for FX 1.1, and I...

Hi all,
I have a windows app that makes some asyc calls to my webservice
(WSE 3.0 with MTOM).
exception gets thrown in the client win app. This exception is being
thrown on another thread by a class in the System.Web.Services
namespace and I have not been able to
catch it and dispose of it. I've tried placing try/catch blocks in
several places in my code, but this exception doesn't seem to bubble
up the stack.

i have a main thread an another worker thread.
The main Thread creates another thread and waits
for the threads signal to continue the main thread.
Everything works inside a ModalDialog and everyting

All works good and with no race conditions or locks.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
