Adding javascript onclick to hyperlink in GridView

I have a GridView with a <asp:HyperLinkinside a <TemplateItem>. I want to
add the javascript onclick code to confirm the link click. What is the best
way to do this?

I can put the onclick=... right in the <asp:HyperLink>, but purely speaking,
this is not a recognized tag for asp:HyperLink. Can I put this somehow in
the aspx or do I do it via code behind?

Remember...this is GridView (not DataGrid).
