ASP.NET Help

I want to open a ASP.Net application for Modification from
one of our web servers.
When I map to the server and try to open the solution I get the error.

"The default web access mode for this project is set to file share, but the
project folder at http://localhost/appname cannot be opend with the path
d:\inetpub\wwwroot\appname the error returned was ... Unable to open
webproject appname. The web appname at the location http://localhost does not
exist ?"

and then I get the two options to try different location ot frontpage.
If I use the different location and browse to the folder on over web server
I am getting another mapping error.

Please help.
