Persisting State Information

Hi,

Is there a way of persisting state information for a server control
without using ViewState? I'm currently using Page.Session() but I
don't think this is the best way. What's the preferred method?

Thanks
Charlie

Hi,

Yes, you can change the default behavior by overriding
SavePageStateToPersistenceMedium and LoadPageStateFromPersistenceMedium.
here a sample that preserve viewstate into session data collection :

protected override void SavePageStateToPersistenceMedium(
object viewState)
{
Session["VS"] = viewState;
}

protected override object LoadPageStateFromPersistenceMedium()
{
return Session["VS"];
}

Just keep in mind that such a solution reduce network traffic but demand
to save ViewState data in centralize place to support load balancing
scenarios.
