I am trying to do some testing of my application with respect to timeouts
(i.e. Session timeouts). I took the advice of somebody else in this
newsgroup (I think) and set my forms authentication timeout to be one minute
less than the session timeout, but I was still getting wierd things happen
when a timeout would occur.
Today I set the...

Hi,
We're having an issue with Forms Authentication cookies being treated as
expired / invalid, and being deleted. This is causing our intranet users a
great deal of pain
- Running IIS 5.0 on Win2k Server
- Forms Authentication is setup with a timeout value of 45 minutes in
web.config
- Session timeout is set to 45 minutes in web.config

This message was originally posted to the aspnet.security newsgroup,
but no one there has ever heard of this before. That is why I am

I have 2 questions:
1. I am trying to use forms authentication. When the user logs out, I
make these function
calls:
Session.Abandon();
FormsAuthentication.SignOut();
But after they log out, the user can (e.g. through the web history) go
and look at any pages that were already viewed when the session was
going on because of the cache. I...

I have a folder on my site secured with Forms Authentication. After the user
is authenticated, I set a session level variable.
The session time on the server is set to 20 mins. I am guessing the default
expiry time for the Forms Authentication cookie is 30 mins? Is this correct?
So after 20 mins, the session expires (assuming no user...

following code from Microsoft. But it returns the session.timeout,
which I do not want as for my application this needs to be set longer
than the forms.timeout.

Folks,
This is sort of a continuation of my question with session timeouts but
slightly different.
I am using Forms authentication with the following code:
FormsAuthenticationTicket lTicket = new
FormsAuthenticationTicket(lsUserID, true, 6000);
// Hash the cookie for transport
string lHash = FormsAuthentication.Encrypt(lTicket);

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
