I've chosen to implement the "optimistic concurrency" model in my
application. To assist in that, I've added a ROWVERSION (TIMESTAMP) column to
my main tables. I read the value of the column in my select, remember it, and
then use it in the update. It works just fine when I have full control of the
whole process.
I want to do the same for my GridView/SqlDataSource combinations. I
typically select from a view and update the corresponding...

I have a GridView bound to an ObjectDataSource. I have a Button that calls
GridView.DataBind. I want the row that is selected before the DataBind to
still be selected afterwards.
This happens automatically if the data doesn't change. But if records have
been added or deleted then it looks as if some code is necessary: I've done
this by using GridView.SelectedValue to get the key value of the currently
selected Row and then by itterating...

ASP.NET 2.0, VS 2005
I have a gridview with paging enabled, bound to an objectdatasource.
Both were dropped on to the page and configured via the wizards.
Basically working as expected.
The gridview's databind method is apparently called when the page is loaded
as I have no code calling the databind method.
How can I keep the gridview from databinding automatically and control it
myself?

Hi, I'm a newbie to ASP.NET programming but not to Visual Studio.
I'm having trouble getting my Master-Details page to work. I have a
page enabled GridView which is linked to a FormView control through an
objectdatasource. The paging on my GridView works fine except that when
I change the page the FormView
does not update. I tried setting the selectedindex to 0 in the
GridView's PageIndexChanged event and manually binding the formview...

I have a GridView and a FormView serve as master/detail relation.
The GridView has paging enabled - 10 rows/page.
The formView is linked to gridView's SelectedValue as the sole
parameter.
All works well, for example:
1. Select the first row in GridView; The FormView shows the detail
correspond to the first record.

Has anyone heard about an ASP.NET 2.0 bug with retrieving values on the
fly from a GridView control when in Edit mode ? I have a GridView
built with an Edit button. When the Edit button is selected I enter a
new value into the one update text box. Upon selecting the Update
button the RowUpdating event is fired, for which I have coded the
snippet below. Running this code on an XP box works fine - the new
value entered into the text box...

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to make a single cell readonly within
a GridView? I know you can do it for a column but what about a cell
within that column?
Thanks!

Hello,
I have GridView in EditItem Template of DetailsView (in normal - read-only
mode there is a label). When I'm in
edit mode I can select one item from GridView. The main problem is that as
I can see in DataBidings property of the GridView I deliver SelectedIndex
instead of SelectedValue. Therefore I gives SelectedIndex value to update in
that specific field and NOT SelectedValue (it is ID - foreign key of parent
table)

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
