The dreaded Session state :-)
All, Just to give a little background this is reagarding an ASP 3.0
application running on IIS6 using the default app pool.
I have set the session timeout to 540 minutes in IIS (under options tab in
Application configuration). There is no code in the Session_OnStart or
Session_OnEnd in the global.asa. Via an include file, each page executes
these no-cache related code:
Response.Buffer = True

Hi all,
I have read much about session variables and the pros and cons. I want
to post my use and get opinions.
When a user logs into my site various fields are pulled from a SQL
user table. I store the user's name, ID, country, region, site code,
and access level in session variables.
I use this information to decide what fields the user can see, what he

I know this issue has been brought up many times, but I have tried many of
the solutions to no avail. I wanted to give my specific case to see if
someone could be of any help.
We are using the sessionstate inproc mode and users are randomly losing
their session. I do not believe it is happening across all users at one
time. It seems to happen to different users at different times, but I am
only going off heresay. The aspnet worker...

Hi,
I'm building a shop site where the cart is stored in the session state. I'm
having a problem with a particular page that processes a code which adds
products to the cart at a discount. I have an unhandled exception that
results from the session expiring before processing the code. It goes
something like this:
1) Enter code.
2) Code is validated. Products are added to a datatable in session state.

In the web.config file for my application, in the <sessionState>
section I have set timeout="120" (in minutes), but session state
variables in my application seem to be expiring in about 5 minutes.
Any idea what could cause this?
I have the mode="InProc" attribute set for <sessionState>. I know that
some people have solved the problem of session variables timing out too
quickly by changing that attribute, but I cannot use...

Hi,
I am facing a very strange problem with my web sever which had been running
fine until few days back when users started complaining that the session is
expiring automatically.
When the users are logged into the web site and actually doing some
activity, they are gettign logged out automatically. I suspect this is a
session timeout problem. I tried to restart IIS server also done a
hard-booting of the server, but the probem still...

Session state has options to be inproc, state server or sql server. Why does
Application state not allow for state server or sql server so the same
Application state could be shared between servers in a farm?

We are using Forms authentication in a webapp (ASP.net 1.1 VB, IIS6 on
W2003) we created to maintain information on the currently logged-in user
and their capabilities. After logging in, the user can click through a few
pages, but if they take a break (sometimes 10 seconds, sometimes it takes 2
or 3 minutes) then click again most of the time it will kick them back to
the login page. While looking at the tracing output at the bottom of the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
