I'm working with a Windows 2003 IIS 6.0 Server with 2 2.8Ghz HT
processors (4 Proc to the server because of the HT).
My problem I that I have web garden turned on and can't get the sessions
to stay. I am new to IIS 6.0 so I don't know much about the whole web
garden thing. However, my entire site is written around ASP using
Sessions.
Any ideas on how to make this run on the new server?

I understand the benefit of pushing the StateServer process onto
another computer to "balance" the load and take some cpu and memory
usage off the web server, but how much could it possibly help?
Especially when you're talking about marshalling the data back and
forth across your network (although on the same segment)?
Here's my scenario: Each login stores exactly 3 session variables; one
integer and two strings. That's it. Never, ever,...

My question is about how to maintain view state in mobile ASP.NET
across postback / request in a web farm environment.
First of all, let's assume the web-farm does NOT use stick-session
feature. In other words, different web servers may serve different
requests in the SAME session.
In non-mobile ASP.NET, my understanding is that the view state
information is passed between each client browser and server with
every post-back. Even if...

Hi,
Just curious what is clickone? Is it the same as Installshield?
Been follow the following instructions and it seems to create an
installation exe for me which is good but how come it doesn't include the
..net framework as part of the installation exe too? if i was giving this exe
to a friend or a client i am sure they can't run the application after the
installed. If the clickone is the same as installshield how do i go about
to...

I think I understand *what* a Web garden is (app running on a server with
multiple processors). But what's the benefit?
I have googled this and have found only articles that describe WHAT and HOW
to set up a Web garden, but not WHY - what's the advantage, and how would I
take advantage of the multiple processors? Is it as simple as me making my
app multi-threaded whereever it is possible and makes sense to do so?
If I run an ASP.NET...

Hi there,
We have an ASP.Net application that is generating huge numbers of Context
Switches when a certain number of active users are present. We tried changing
the configuration of the Application Pool to use a Web Garden and the number
of Context Switches decreased by more than 95% (that's the good news).
Our problem is that we have something in our session state that cannot be
serialized and therefore we cannot use StateServer for...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
