Can anyone please help me here? Basically I have modified the source
code and understood it but when I update a record in the db using a
JSP, it gives me an error "The flight you selected does exist."
Althought there is not selection going on, instead it is entered, I
need it to match the flight in the db using the flightNo. I want all
the attributes to be changed apart from the flightNo itself as it is
it's associated details I need...

I've got a paging and sorting enabled GridView whose datasource is and
AccessDataSource. I build the SelectCommand at PageLoad - it's a union
query to show items and comments of the user logged in. This all works
fine.
I tried to set AccessDataSource.UpdateCommand in the code behind (C#) by
handling the GridView.OnUpdating event - since this is supposed to fire
before the record is updated, I thought I could set the UpdateCommand here....

Here's one that should probably have the sub-heading "I'm sure I asked this
once before, but ...".
Two users are both looking at the same data, from a database. One user
changes the data and commits it. How does the other user get the updated
view without polling for changes? Is there some sort of callback mechanism
that can be set up on the dataset or connection?

I'm trying to link a gridview to another gridview in a Master-Details
architecture. But the Details list isn't filtering like it is
suppossed to. It will show all items on page load and it won't remove
any items when an item in the Masters list is selected. It shouldn't
show anything until an item in the Master's list is selected and then
only show the details which are associated with the selected item in
the Masters list.

I have a gridview that displays a ORDER_ID in the first column and
then I add 2 button columns on the end of it to approve or deny the
order. If they approve it I want to update the database row's column
"status" with a 2 and if they deny the order then it will update that
column to 6. Im having trouble doing that with a AccessDataSource
control. Could someone help me figure it out. Here is what i have.

I have a gridview i managed to update using the edit option in the smartmenu. The problem comes when i delete a value or make a value read only.
Say i have a table Employee with the following columns : EmpID, Emp Name, Password, Emp Type.
Now when i remove the value EmpID, the gridview does not update. it just reloads when i hit update but no changes are made.
