I'm building a smart client application based off of the
example that is posted on windowsforms.com (and shown on
the .NET show). A windows form calls a webservice that
itterates through a directory, pulling meta data from all
the assemblies located in that directory. Then returns
that information for the form to consume and to be able to
dynamically load the assemblies.
What I've done is define 3 events that my dynamic
assemblies...

Hi,
I'm trying to determine with my program whether or not a given database
supports a given feature set. To do this I'm querying for certain stored
procedures in the sysobjects table and if they are present, making the
assumption the database will support the given feature. The problem is I
can't find a certain stored procedure in the sysobjects table, even though I
know it exists and can see other similar procedures using:
select...

hello all
i have a specific question according hiding unmanaged (native) types
in metadata for assemblies generated by c++ with managed extensions. i
understand what these types are nedeed in metadata for runtime but why
to do it public?
is code will run correctly if i make these types private for assembly?
there is no way to do so from IDE or by some compiler option but i can

Hi all,
Has anyone figured out how to avoid this problem?
According to Microsoft, signed assemblies are not supported in bin\
directory of a web application.
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=324519
My ASP.NET assemblies are signed, and I don't feel like changing
AssemblyKeyFile attribute back and forth.
Also, I can't automatically put the assembly into GAC because ASP.NET

Where is the private key to an assembly stored?
The public key is stored in the manifest. All clients that reference
the shared assembly, when compiled, store the public key _token_ into
their manifests along with a hash value for the referenced assemblies.
However, the private key is not distributed. From what I've read, it
still remains with the author on his machine in the .snk file generated
by the sn utility.

I'm looking for a method by which to access Windows files metadata and
have not been able to find anything in the standard modules or via
Google - what is the standard approach?
Shamefully I really do not understand Windows file system - e.g. is
properties metadata attached to the file? if I change that metadata
do I change the file's hash? how is the metadata structured? or is
the "properties" metadata simply derived upon access?

If you add a reference to an ASP.NET 2.0 Web Project, where does it
save that reference?
I don't mean the DLL, I mean the reference to the DLL.
In 2003 I believe it would put 1 line per assembly in the vbproj file,
but there is no project file anymore in 2005.

Hi;
When we add a reference to a web app, where is that information
stored? There is no project file, it's not in the web.config or
solution file.
??? - thanks - dave

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
