Possible issue with forms authentication in asp.net 2.0 and IE7

I am having random user complaints about login pages basically sitting
dead and reacting properly to a login.

We are using the standard login control, and we are using
System.Web.Secu rity.SqlMembers hipProvider

Authentication is set to forms and we are using cookies. We are using
the same code in a few more products, and the only complaints I am
getting are from IE7 users.

I managed to experience this issue once, with two separate
applications using the same control, both through IE7. Basically I
kept clicking on login and nothing happened. I was so hardheaded about
blaming it on cookies that I did not pay attention to see if IE was
complaining about client side errors.

To make it worse, I have not been able to replicate this in over 5
days, yet my client keeps coming back every day just to whine about
this.

Am I the only one seeing this? How come it is only an issue in IE7,
while IE6, Safari and Firefox (on both Windows and OS X) are working
fine?

I can't tell my client to simply tell people to switch browsers
because most of his IE7 users are not really in control of their
machines. Plus with my bad luck, the second this client says sure,
we'll ditch IE7, the next client will show up complaining about the
same thing.

TIA

I am trying to build an app where the stuff in the root directory is open to all, but anything under the Restricted directory requires you to login and I want to use Forms to do it. I'm having trouble getting the web.config to work properly. First I tried to have a second web.config in the sub directory with authentication and authorization set to forms, but it blew up. Next, I tried to modify the root web.config in the following manner...

I have run into a really strange problem. My objective is that I only want user who have authenticated themselves to be able to access the website (and authentication is performed by form authentication). Only a registration web page is allowed anonymous access. I have the following contents in web.config: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration>

My current scenario is users logging in to our website and being directed to a specific directory based on who they are. The ACLs on the destination result in prompts for credentials (the windows popup dialog). I'm using basic windows authentication with https to protect the username and password. I'd like to have a nicer login UI using Forms authentication against the AD, but would still like to use ACLs to control resource access. ...

Hello, I have an application that is using forms authentication and it seems to be working fine most of the time. Unfortunatelly, it sometimes just redirects me to the login screen. It seems that the session timed out. But I login again and do the same action, it redirects me AGAIN to the login page: 1. I login to the app now. 2. I hit some* "server side" link button or button (or any other object that raises a server side event). 3....

Our WebDev team is experiencing a problem when trying to access a WebService using SSL and through a proxy server after using the HttpWebRequest object. Under normal circumstances we are able to use the webservice without any problems. But after using an HttpWebRequest object to make a call to a website all subsequent attempts to use the WebService will fail with a 401 Unauthorized error. This problem appears to be directly related to...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
