Vista and VS.NET 2005

Any word on how good Vista works with Visual Studio?

Do you know if Vista is now available for download to MSDN subscribers?

Vista has been available on MSDN for around 3 weeks now.

It works fine for me, others have reported some problems. Most seem ok once
they disable UAC (I still have it on and don't have any problems)

VS.NET 2005 SP1 for Vista is expected out in about a month or so...but like
I said, everything's working fine for me..

In addition to what Karl said, even if you get VS.NET 2005 working fine on
Vista, any solution you create will *not* be supported by Microsoft until
they release a planned patch some time near the end of Feb 2007 - to all
intents and purposes, if anything goes wrong you're on your own...

If you're happy enough with that, then go for it... :-)

Yes, since 23 November...

Also, another consideration (since you've posted in an ASP.NET forum) is
that there is almost nothing in Vista which will add any significant benefit
to web development using Visual Studio.NET 2005... If, like me, that's how
you make your living, then there's no current business reason to upgrade
from WinXP Pro...

Hi, On Friday I attended the Microsoft EVO conference in London where they talked about Vista, Office 2007 and Exchange 2007 and how they all work together beautifully, how they were all "people-ready" etc... I asked a couple of questions about Visual Studio.NET on Vista, especially on 64-bit Vista, and they became *very* nervous... To cut a long story short, Microsoft will not support ANY version of Visual

Hi As Windows Vista is around the corner, I'm considering upgradeing my dev machine. But, one thing I'm curiouse about it if there are any known issues with Vista and Visual Studio 2005. Not fun to use 2 days reinstalling, and when I'm finnally sitting down to do some programming, something hangs or is broken. I've heard something that Visual Studio 2005 will not be supported until SP 1 for VS is released. Anyone got any info?

I installed VS.NET 2005 final on Vista Ultimate RTM. I have a web project that I'd like open but receive this message: The project file 'c:\myproj.csproj' cannot be opened. The project type is not supported by this installation. I then downloaded and installed the web application support for VS.NET 2005: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8B05EE00-9554-4733-8725-3CA89DD9BFCA&displaylang=en. Still same error.

(I know this is a great big newsgroup no-no, but I originally only posted to microsoft.public.dotnet.general and that newsgroup doesn't seem to have near the readership of these - so I thought I'd also post this info here for the benefit of the greater dotnet programming community.) Well, after looking at this list, I'm thinking of staying with XP/VS2005 for a while longer. At least until SP2 is out and Vista has been burped a few...

Hi all... Well my earlier post aboout not being able to access http://localhost has been resolved. I am still having problems testing my Web site project. First, thanks to Juan Libre I edited my HOSTS file and can access localhost. However, what I found in the HOSTS file was not what I expected. Juan mentioned that the following line might be missing. 127.0.0.1 localhost

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
