What control is best to display ordinary text on an aspx web page?
For example, a short newspaper article as the main content.
In html is just in a table, but whats the best way of doing it in
asp.net 2?
Is it a GridView, a DetailView, a Label, a FormView control, a
DataList?
They can all kind of do it, but which is best?
Thanks

Well if it's just plain text (not formatted HTML) a label control should
work just fine.

Thanks for taking the time to tell me a label to put
text on a page. I'll use it. This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

Hi all,
I have a user control that uses control literal to build
a heading with a link, and a div containing links below.
As the link heading is hit, I want to change the style of
the div, making it visible or not. Yep you guessed it,
expanding tree type functionality.
The header has an onclick event onclick='Doexpandcollapse

Is there such an animal as a frameset/frames server-side
webcontrol or htmlcontrol? I have a frameset with two
frames - one contains an aspx page with asp buttons that
has to do some updating, then change the aspx in the
second frame to another aspx. I've been trying various
ideas without success. Is there no way to do this on the
server side? Perplexed and wanting to drop kick this darn
app into orbit elsewhere.... tia, Sue

I have a user control being used instead of a frame page. when the user
clicks on a menu item I need to send the ID (integer value) of that menu as
a parameter in the postback of the user control which will be used to query
sql server to repopulate the datagrid in the user control.
I also wrapped the user control in a panel element so I could position it on
the page.
I'm clueless on how to get started with this.

Hey,
I have a Web Form with a drop down list, textbox, and search button.
When click the search button an SQL server database is queried fordata.
Once I have the data in a dataset I use the dataset to dynamically create a
Html Table control.
I want to display the table on another frame page (target="main") without
the web form controls (i.e. the textbox, search button, and dropdown list).
I just want the table displayed only on the...

In an ASCX, I have a Literal control into which I inject a
at runtime.
litInjectedContent.Text = dataClass.GetHTMLSnippetFromDB(someID);
This works great as long as the contains just client-side
HTML, CSS, etc.
What I want to do is somehow insert a *server control* into the , then set the server control's properties at runtime.

I have a .NET web service which returns a System.XML.XMLDocument. The
data returned in the XML is just simple text. Now, I want to display
and format the text on a .aspx web page. I know how to call the web

right way to do this? Once I get the XML object back from the web
service, what's the best way to format and display it on my .aspx web
page? Through XSL/XSLT? Do I use...

Hi All, I got a real doozy here. I have read hundreds upon hundreds of forum posts and found numerous others who have replicated this problem, but have yet to find a solution. Through testing I have been able to find the cause of the problem, and will describe it here first textually and then through a code example.
The purpose of what I am trying to do is to create a postback-free web application through the use of ASP.net AJAX UpdatePanels...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
