I am developing a Windows Forms application in VB.NET that will use .NET
remoting to access the data tier classes.
A very simple way I have come up with is by creating typed (.xsd) datasets.
For example dsParts.xsd and including that in the data tier. I then will
create a class that looks like this
Public Class CPart
Inherits dsParts

I am currently writing a screen in my application which uses a form view
control bound to an ObjectDataSource, the Business Layer is using a
custom class to overcome passing mutiple parameters to the business
layer however when the control in the FormView is a DropDownList it
seems the values are not passed through in the Update Method, either in
the updated copy of the class or the original copy, has anyone else came
accross this problem....

Hi all
FIRST THE BORING BITS.......
I normally use a Database layer, a Business layer and a GUI layer.
The GUI uses an Object data source to bind to the Business layer which in
turn binds to the database layer. Every thing is great. I can read data,
change data in the grid, update the database, and when the GUI reloads, all
the changes are all present and correct. i.e. the data seems to be persisted

I have a formview within a user control bound to an objectdatasource. When
my formview is in edit mode and I press update I get an error saying that
the form must be in edit mode to do an update. I am guessing on the postback
the user control is setting the form back to ReadOnly. I got around this by
triggering the update in the formview from a button using the updateitem
method but changing the mode of the form to edit beforehand.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
