Hello group,
I'm trying to develop a proof of concept webservice which asynchronously
calls a function in a DLL. The function raises an event when it is finished,
and works when used as part of a windows form. When I try to hook up the
webservice to the event and call the WS, the CPU goes to 100% and I have to
restart the WWW service.
Does anyone have an idea as to how this can be done ... and if not,
directions to a tall bridge would...

Our web service was working fine until we installed .net Framework 1.1 service pack 1. Uninstalling SP1 is not an option because our largest customer says service packs marked as "critical" by Microsoft must be installed on their servers.
Now german Umlaute (ä, ü, ö) and quotes are returned incorrectly in SOAP fault responses.
This can be easily verified:
Implement the following in a web service method (just raises a SOAPException with a...

I have a webservice that I wanted to return an ArrayList..Well the service
compiles and runs when I have the output defined as ArrayList, but the WSDL
defines the output as an Object so I was having a problem in the calling
program. I searched online and found suggestions that I return an Array
instead so I modified my code (below) to return an Array instead of an
ArrayList. Now I get the message when I try to run just my webservice...

Hi
In vb6 I downloaded multiple pages from a website asynchronously by
instantiating a dll 3 times that used an inet control with a doevents on the
getchunk method when finished I simply raised the event through the dll. This
method allowed control back to the application but more importantly to
download more pages not waiting for the page before to finish.
It was sloppy but it achieved the purpose with little overhead.
Within VB.NET...

I've found a free WebService on the net for a currency converter and have
created a class to use it with the WSDL tool.
I call the WebService method asynchronously:
converter.ConversionRateAsync((Currency)fromCurrencyComboBox.SelectedIndex,
(Currency)toCurrencyComboBox.SelectedIndex);
Where do I have to put the catch instruction?
If I try to run the instruction above when I am not connected to the

Hello,
I am attempting to call a (Delphi) win32 DLL from a Delphi.Net webservice. I am using a slightly modified version of the hello world webservice that comes with Delphi 2006.
The DLL works fine when called from a win32 app. The problem I am encountering is that the string being returned to the caller is in Chinese (No, I'm not kidding). (I need it to be in English).
Background: The DLL uses 3 pchar parms, 2 in and one out. In...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
