I can get data from a client-side assembly to the server in two manual
steps, but I need to be able to do it in one step.
Step 1:
The user presses the manually coded "Step 1" button, which calls the
JavaScript function.
The function copies the data into a server textbox control.
Step 2:
The user presses the VS generated "Step 2" button, which calls the

Hi:
when the user selects the save button (asp control) to intiate a postback, I
would like to pop up a javascript alert box to confirm if he really wants to
save. If he selects no from alert dialog, I would like to cancel the
postback. How do you do this?
Thanks,
Charlie

I'm trying to initiate Postback from client-side script, and here's what I
have that doesn't work: I have an <asp:Button> on the same page named
btnSave that the user can click (its functionality works fine). I want to
call the button's server-side functionality from the client-side script (in
response to things happening in the client other than the user clicking on
the save button).

Hi,
I am a newby in ASP.NET, and till now wrote only simple "classic" WEB-sites.
But - the time came, and now I need that:
1. Server will "listen" for some events on its local machine
2. According to event received (say - event ID), it will update client pages, that need updating based on this ID (if currently there exist clients that are interesting in specific ID).
The good example of such site - airport flight information, when...

A postback I'm doing takes ages to get the data which it then uses to
populate a table.
What I want to know is:
How can I get the client side to fire a 'resize' event when the postback
thing has finished?

I have a web application with a page where user can go to upload data
files. When they click "Upload", which is an aspnet Button, I want to
be able to instantly hide a couple of textboxes and buttons on the
webpage before doing the postback. This is because if I place code to
do this in the server-side code block, it doesn't get executed until
after the upload completes - not very useful for this scenario! And so
I thought I would put in...

hi all,
I have this seemingly simple problem. I have lost a lot of time on it
though.
When a user selects a value from a dropdownlist (static control) a
dynamic control is generated. I have to create the dynamic controls
in the OnInit stage of the lifecycle. Since data from static controls
is not yet available in the OnInit stage I can't know what dynamic
control I have to create.

Is there any way to execute a javascript or any kind of script when
responding to a SelectionChange event in a Calendar control? I would like to
display a window containing dynamic data on top of the parent window when
someone clicks on a date in my calendar control. I know that I can create a
script dynamically in the event but I don't know how to display the script at
that point.

I've got a user control that builds a table of dynamic data based on a :LINQ class holding the data. The data is loaded using the LoadData(DataInstance) method. The table it builds contains a number of dynamic controls that themselves have postback/autopostback so the display of the control needs to be built at latest in the Page.Load event or the event handlers for the controls don't get wired up.
Now if I have a page that uses this user...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
