e.newvalues looking at the e.oldvalues in gridview_row updating event

Hi All,

I am using asp.net 2.0. I have a gridview with
AutoGenerateEdi tButton="True" .
I am trying to access newValues in rowupdating event. It gives me
"oldvalues" collection.
I have
a) datakeynames property set
b) I am using template fields in my gridview and have "EVAL" for
ItemTemplate and "BIND" for EditItemTemplat e
c) I have datasourceID and updatestatement set.
d) I set DataMember="Def aultView"
I am not sure what am I missing. I have worked before with gridview row

update/delete..but never faced such problem.
I want to validate the user input before my row is updated. I
think...we can do this in rowupdating event before row is updated.

I am not sure why e.newvalues collection is returning the oldvalues.
any help is greatly appreciated.

I ran into a situation this morning where the RowUpdating event of a GridView kept insisting there were no entries in either the OldValues or NewValues dictionaries. The GridView is bound to a strongly-typed collection, derived from CollectionBase, through the control's datasource property at runtime. From some googling it appears that, at least in the release candidate for NET2 this was a known bug; only binding to DataSources lets those...

Hi, I have been struggling with the GridView the whole day, but can not get this solved. The rowupdating event in my Gridview doesn't give me the new values only the old ones. In my GridView I do not use a DataSourceObject and can therefore not use e.NewValues or e.OldValues The columns used are template columns

Hello all, I have used sqldatasource many times calling e.newvalues, and e.oldvalues in the iteminserting, itemupdating, itemdeleting subs. When I try using them with the objectdatasource they return no value, which I am assuming they aren't finding the fields. is anyone having the same problem? I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using the RowUpdating event and the GridViewUpdateEventArgs Dictionary value. When I step through the code I find that I don't have any OldValues or NewValues in this value. I set the GridView.EditIndex to the GridViewEditEventArgs in the RowEditing event. So it's pointing to the correct row: protected void GridView1_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e) {

Hello I am having problems extracting the OldValues collection from the RowUpdating event in my GridView. Every time I access this I am getting the values from the NewValues collection in both OldValues and NewValues. I am fairly sure that the data is not being rebound prior to the updating event. I have posted my code below. Thanks in advance.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
