Hello
I am running an insert that takes an awfully long time compared to the
same workload on Oracle.
It takes 44 minutes to insert 2.5 million records. It takes less time
to insert the records into the source table loading from disk.
The statement is below as is information about the table space.

only bind the data to it once, and not on each post back (basically
have the data binding done in the If NOT IsPostBack Then statement).
How come? How does this information get preserved?

Hello,
I fill a dropdown with data from sql server with vbscript. In the view
on the sql server are just citynames, only one row. To fill the
dropdown takes round about 4 seconds. That's not nice, but if it only
happens on page load, I can live with it. The realy bad thing is the
posback. Either it takes 20 seconds and more, if I do a databind() on
the dropdown, or the hole page crash.
I tested it with dataset and datareader. Both...

Hi,
I am trying to download data from remote ftp server connected through
GSM modem. The speed is slow 1kB/s. Despite the classic linux ftp
client works fine the ftp.retrbinary(),ftpretrlines() function from
ftplib hangs. I am able succesfuly login but a can not download. It has
probably something common with sockets.

I have a selection window, here are some dropdownlist if i click on an
item in a dropdownlist the page reloads itself an puts the selected
item in a textbox. Then i can search on the value in the textbox.
The values in the dropdownlist is variable. In one of the dropdownlists
there are lots of values and my viewstate is very large. My page is
almost 3 mb. This is way too much to load every time.
I can not set my viewstate to false because...

I have a login control in a master frame.
In the page_load event handler i check
to see if a user is logged in or not and then
display their name or the login control.
This runs every time a new page is loaded.

Not sure what is going on. I have a treeview of an XmlDataSource with
cacheing enabled. With only a few nodes there is no problem on a postback,
the treeview is repainted immediately. With a lot of nodes and many many
leaves, it can take 2 minutes for a repaint. Both running in debug (VS2005)
or just running the web page from the wwwroot server using IE7. However, if
I bring up FireFox to view the page, the repaint takes only a second....
