Hello
I have a FormView with InsertItem, EditItem and ItemTemplates.
Depending on from where the page is accessed, the page opens up in
either Insert, Edit or ReadOnly mode. The FormView is databound. The
problem I have is when the page opens up in Insert Mode. I require one
of the fields to be populated with a databound field, but for some some
reason this doesnt happen in the InsertMode.
Following is the FormView:

I'm working on a simple formview screen that should update a SQL Server 2000
record. I'm sure there must be something simple wrong, but when I press
update, the screen refreshes and the changes are not committed to the table.
Can anyone give me some suggestions here?
Thanks in advance (code below)
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="EditItem.aspx.cs"
Inherits="EditItem" %>

I'm at a loss here...
My FormView control automatically performs a databind at each postback on
the server. But in some cases I don't want this to happen. Like when the
business layer decides that some of the information in the controls cannot be
accepted. But then the FormView binds to the datasource again, and the input
in all contols is lost. And the user will have to type it all over again.
In ASP.NET 1.1 we could simply say: If Not...

I'm building a small web application - I started out placing all my code in
one file (config.aspx). As I continue to add code though it was becoming
very unwieldy.
After doing some searching online I found an article which suggested I might
place some of the code into web user controls. I created two new files
(general_info.ascx and store_front.ascx) and placed two chunks of code in
each.
I then registered the controls at the top of...

I have created a usercontrol (ascx file) which contains a formview, inside
of the formview I have an EditItemTemplate and an ItemTemplate. Both the
EditItemTemplate and ItemTemplate have link buttons which call some code to
changed the formview mode from Edit to ReadOnly or vice versa. When I run
the code though and click the link buttons, the formview doesn't switch
modes (the page reloads the mode just doesn't change)
Here is the code...

I have a formview within a user control bound to an objectdatasource. When
my formview is in edit mode and I press update I get an error saying that
the form must be in edit mode to do an update. I am guessing on the postback
the user control is setting the form back to ReadOnly. I got around this by
triggering the update in the formview from a button using the updateitem
method but changing the mode of the form to edit beforehand.
This...

Hi
I have a FormView control within a UserControl. After I DataBind I need to
change the CurrentMode depending on a value from the ObjectDataSource Select
method. When I do this the FormView DataBinds again. Also in the first
DataBound event the controls are null so I have to check for null even
though I know they are there.
I would prefer not to call my select method twice. Also the first databound
event seems pointless.

I have a formview that has a dropdownlist bound to a table to populate
a list of people. While in edit mode, if a person is not in that
list, there is a button that pops up an add requester page and the new
name is added to the table. However, when the popup closes, the
parent page appears to refresh but the new name is not immediately in
the dropdownlist. I have to get out of edit or go to another page and
come back to see it. I tried...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
