Custom error page, aspxerrorpath, and original query string?

Hello.

I have a customErrors section set up in my asp.net's web.config file.
All is fine and well when dealing with simple pages, e.g.,
/dir/pub/news/view.aspx, I get
error-404.aspx?aspxer rorpath=/dir/pub/news/view.aspx as expected.

How can I get the original query string? e.g., /dir/all.aspx?q=news . I
need the "q=news" part in the customError.

The only solution I found so far involves a massive custom error tool
(from MSDN) that hooks into the global file. That isn't exactly ideal
and is an extreme bit of overhead.

Surely this is built into ASP.NET. How can it not be? The referrer is
even empty on the custom error page.

I searched this and other groups (and google), to no avail.

Thanks

E. Brown

I'm trying to pass a custom object back and forth between forms. This custom object is pulled into the app using an external reference to an assembly DLL that was given to me by a co-worker. A query-string flag is used to indicate to the page whether it should instantiate a new instance of the object or access an existing instance from the calling page. On the both pages I have a property of the page which is an instance of this custom...

Hi, I am looking at the MS KB Article 306355: HOW TO: Create Custom Error Reporting Pages in ASP.NET by Using Visual C# .NET This article describes how to redirect errors to a custom html error page. All six steps in the article work just fine. Then at the end of the article, there is a little comment about redirecting errors to an aspx page (instead of an html page):

I've figured out how to use the <customErrors/> element in my web config file to to redirect 404 errors to a custom error handler. But, it displays an 'ugly' URL in the client's browser. For example, if someone browses to: www.mydomain.com/Users/BobJones/ then my app should display a page with info about Bob Jones. www.mydomain.com/Users/ is a real folder on my website that only contains a single file (default.aspx). I've configured...

I have done a bit of research of Url Rewriting, but as yet have been unsuccessful at getting it to work well, and there are issues around what file types are supported and how much code you want to write. While working on a similar, though partially unrelated, issue, I came across a possible alternate method. Before I pursue this method in full, I wanted to get opinions of others as to any unforseen issues I might encounter. The method is...
