Slow compilation/building of VS 2005 Web Projects

Hajo,

I have soulutin with 7 library projects and 2 web projects. When I
change
something in one of the libraries and hit F5 it takes literally 1-2
minutes to start an application.
I've noticed - looking at output window - that huge time of building
takes web site validation.
The output is like below:

Validating Web Site
Building directory '/WebSite/Admin/'.
Building directory '/WebSite/Common/popups/'.
Building directory '/WebSite/Common/App_LocalResour ces/'.
Building directory '/WebSite/Common/'.

It takes 2-5 seconds to build every directory although I haven't
changed anything in web app I've changed only one of the library
projects.

Thanks in advance for any info

I also have to wait for a while for "Validating Web Site" even if "not
build" option is selected, as ScottGu suggested at
http://forums.asp.net/thread/1122000.aspx.

Thanks, it helped.

To all... I have experienced this problem and recently so has my co-worker which led me to try to solve the problem. Before I give you the fix, let me give a brief overview of the problem. Hopefully this will be indexed efficiently by google so that others with this problem can quickly benefit from it. The problem manifests itself when on a Windows NT 4.0 domain and building assemblies using a strong name key generated with the SN.EXE...

Why is "Visual Studio .net 2003 7.1 c++" so much slower than VS6 at linking? It looks like "Visual Studio .net 2003 7.1 c++" doesn't even do incremental linking! I make one very minor change in a .cpp from one of my thirty projects and the whole thing links! (I turned on verbose linking to verify this.) Is there something else I need to do to turn on incremental linking? Rudy

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 professional edition and try to build a web site built in c#. The solution consists of about 20 class library projects and one web site. The web site references the class libraries in the project to project fashion. My problem starts when I try to build the solution. The compilation of the projects completes fast, but after that visual studio goes into an idle state for about 30 seconds before it compiles...

Can anyone shed some light on why compiling and running web-apps is so slow in VS2005. I have a solution with 3 web-apps, 20 or so library projects and several winforms apps. All in all it totals about 150,000 lines of C#. I've only just converted this to VS2005 project but am frustrated with the following: - VS2005 insists on compiling all projects when I press F5 to run an application even though no code has changed in the other...

When you navigate to an ASP.Net web application after a fresh compile of the source, ASP.Net does the compilation of the intermediate language (IL). Is there any way to directly launch this compilation without navigating to the app (w/o navigating via code either)? I'm getting a compilation error after building my website. I've been getting this error for years, and have researched it before. On Microsoft's website, it states that...

Why doesn't C# allow incremental compilation like Java? Specifically, in Java I can compile single .java files in isolation. The resulting individual .class files can be grouped into .jar files. In C#, there appears to be no analog. I have to compile all my .cs files into a single .dll. This has serious drawbacks in terms of compilation. With Eclipse, I change a file and only that file is re-compiled. With Visual Studio, I

We have a very large code base and use the partitioned solution model for development and deployment. The problem is that in .NET 2005 the setup projects cause severe performance problems when working with the master build solution in the .NET IDE. Currently we have about 300 projects with another 150+ going to production in the coming months. The build server we use is a Windows 2003 server with quad Intel Xeon processors and 2GB...

Hi John, Hopefully this post will find its way back to you - or perhaps be answered by someone else. As I mentioned in my last post on the earlier portion of this thread, changing the serialization settings for the build handled the initial slows we encountered when invoking the web service. Since that time, we ported the original VB.net code over to C# - this was done to make it cleaner easier to include the project in the rest of...

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
