In java, this seems so easy. You need a new object
Object test = new Object() gives me exactly what I want.
could someone please help me understand the different ways to do the
same thing in C++. I find my self sometimes, trying
Object app = Object();
Object *app = Object();
Object app = new Object();

Occasionally I want to save web pages (with the IE) without the surrounding frills and banners.
For that I click on the link "print" and a printer friendly version web page is prepared and popped up.
Most of the time this works well. However sometimes some fucking webmaster insert an automatic
printer dialog popup which forces me to click on the "cancel" button first.
Ok, assume I saved such a page on my hard disc. Is there a way to remove...

Hello,
This is a simple question for you all, I guess .
int main(){
double *g= new double;
*g = 9;
delete g;
cout<< sizeof(g)<<" "<<sizeof(double)<<" "<<sizeof(*g)<<" "<<*g<<" "<<endl;
*g = 111;
cout<< sizeof(g)<<" "<<sizeof(double)<<" "<<sizeof(*g)<<" "<<*g<<" "<<endl;

Here is an example of the type of data from a file I will have:
Apple,4322,3435,4653,6543,4652
Banana,6934,5423,6753,6531
Carrot,3454,4534,3434,1111,9120,5453
Cheese,4411,5522,6622,6641
The first position is the info (the product) I want to retreive for the
corresponding code. Assuming that the codes are unique for each product
and all code data is on one line.

I am in a slight predicament trying to determine the most efficient and
effective way to connect/disconnect from a database within a business object
(c# dll). I'm also keeping in mind the concept of connecting late and
disconnecting early.
Background:
- multi-tier application (code-behind uses properties and methods of the
business object, the business object handles the data layer)
For instance (in an ASPX code-behind file):

I am currently cleaning up an application which was origainlly hashed
together with speed of coding in mind and therefore contains quite a few
"hacky" shortcuts.
As part of this "revamping" process I am introducing namespaces to
properly compartmentalise sections of the code into logical units. What
I am speciffically trying to get right is the dependency tree for header
files to reduce compile time and simplify the code structure.
On...

I'm making a CRUD screen for an Oracle database... but problem is that
the primary key in that table is populated via an autonumber, which in
Oracle is done just with triggers and sequences. Suffice to say that
ADO.Net 1.1 is unaware that this column is, despite appearances,
optional - which is a problem when creating new rows. I was wondering
what the best way to remove the constraint is? I've been bitten too
many times by assuming the...

I am constantly creating and destroying a singular object used within
a class I wrote.
To save a bit of time, I am considering using 'placement new'. I guess
we could also debate this decision - but for the sake of this post ...
I'm searching for an answer that assumes said decision.
If I allocate memory in the class declaration:
char buffer;

I have std::vector<Base *bases;
I'd like to do something like:
std::for_each(bases.begin(), bases.end(), operator delete);
Is it possible without writing an adapter? Is there a better way? Is
there an existing adapter?
Thanks,
Daniel.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
