Need same viewstate for same page across multiple servers

Is this possible? We have 7 webservers servering up the same content, but
each has a different viewstate. How can we make them all have the same one?

If I remember correctly, AutoGenerate for viewstate cannot be used in a
webfarm cluster and I dont think thats changed for asp.2. These article
might help. It explains that you can either disable viewstate, or replace
it with a common seed in machine.config.

Hi everybody. Recently I ran into situation with System.Threading.Timer in my ASP.NET application. I reinstalled Windows on one of my servers and got timers stop firing events after while, they just stop functioning one-by-one. Here is detailed explanation. I run application on 2 dedicated Win 2003 servers. Server A serves about 1000 active simultaneous users (150-200 aspx page requests per second), Sever B serves about 400 users (80-100...

Just wondering if there are any strong arguments one way or the other for storing a small value (6 bytes) in the ViewState vs. Session state. The value is needed in only one page in a large ASP.NET app. I'm interested in knowing performance differences specifically and anything a beginning ASP.NET developer might not be thinking about. FWIW: I'm *not* considering the 3rd obvious option - cookies. Thanks!

Hi, I'm involved in a ASP.NET web project with a web farm and load balancing(windows server 2003 ) with no afinity (no sticky sessions) and i am facing problems in view state. I get an error like this. Server Error in '/ViewState' Application. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- The viewstate is invalid for this page and might be corrupted.

My question is about how to maintain view state in mobile ASP.NET across postback / request in a web farm environment. First of all, let's assume the web-farm does NOT use stick-session feature. In other words, different web servers may serve different requests in the SAME session. In non-mobile ASP.NET, my understanding is that the view state information is passed between each client browser and server with every post-back. Even if...

I have an aspx page (page1.aspx) that post back to another aspx page (page2.aspx) “page2.aspx” has a button called back, when the user click on this button it is supposed to return to “page1.aspx”, when the user returns to “page1.aspx” I want to restore the viewstate of the page so the page would have the same data as the user left it. How can I achieve this behavior? Thanks

I am receiving an Invalid ViewState error after posting back to the same page twice. Consistently the error occurs after the second postback and not after the first. I have looked into creating a static machinekey in the machine.config and that did not help. I believe that issue only occurred when there was an inconsistent viewstate error. The error I am faced with consistently occurs. Are there any known problems with the ViewState...

I would really appreciate it if anyone has any thoughts on this one - it's driving us mad. We have a web site which is using ASP.NET 1.1 and which is load balanced across two web servers with IP affinity. It generally works very well. We have set enableViewStateMac="false" and to be sure we have set the same machine key on each of the web servers (i.e. <system.web><machinekey....>) We have a particular scenario which is causing us big...

Hi, I've been getting dozens of the same exceptions every week from our web server (running asp.net v1.1). I looked at the viewstate in the exception, all of them shared the same problem: having some extra characters (0x21 0x0d 0x0a 0x20, which is "!\r\n ") inserted after the 978th character. There's no server farm or load balancing and the problem came from all major browsers (e.g. IE, Firefox) so I'm suspecting some kind of browser...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
