Generally speaking, what does it mean when I see a "button" with red text
showing this message instead of the control I've dragged onto the web form
in Design View.? (But the page works fine at runtime). Does it indicate
a problem with References for example?
Thanks
Owen

I'm pulling my hair out here. First, I'm new to XML, so that doesn't
help, but none of this makes any sense to me. All I'm trying to do is
take a simple source XML file and translate it with an XSLT to produce
HTML code.
The problem I have is that no matter what translation it runs through,
it ALWAYS includes data that I don't match in the XSLT!! All I want to
do is extract specific fields from the XML. Here's the XML source....

Hi,
What is the right way to create an OCX COM component. The component is
already registerred, but can't create an instance. I am using the reference
to the interop module created.
If I use javascript or vbscript it works.
I will appreciate any help.
I do the following (C#):

Hi all,
I've created numerous custom controls of varying complexity, but I've been
on this problem for a day and a half, and I can't figure this mystery out. I
hope one of you kind folks can point out the really obvious and stupid thing
I'm overlooking here. :)
I have a custom control that provides a tasklist similar to what you get in
certain parts of Office. On the client it consists of a bunch of nested,
named and id'ed divs with...

Hey guys:
What can I do when an "Error Creating Control" is displayed on the form
(instead of the control), and a tooltip indicating the error never is
displayed?
Is there some log, some hidden message, some entry in registry where a
log is created (or that enables a log, trace, dump or whatever)...
I'm a little bit frustated with this error :-(
Tks,
Ravi.

I feel like this question has been half-answered on here for me a few
times, but I'm looking for a more complete solution.
I've got the results of a query being returned in XML and processed
with XSLT via XmlDocument and XslTransform in C#. It outputs a web
form. My problem is that I've got a Custom Control I'd like to place in
the middle of the form, with some parameter information fed from the
XML.
I've gone the path of forcing a...

Hi,
I started a new web application which so far has several grdiviews
displaying data.
I find myself reimplementing the same logic (copy/pasting really) in grid's
event ItemDataBound and RowCreated and Sorting events to add certain effects.
For example inserting sorting direction image to the column header.
I want to create one custom grid view that implement all this logic to be
reused through out this app, so I wont need to copy...

I'm gettting this error at "Application.Run" in the code below. The error
message also says "Out of Memory". How can I find out more about what's
causing this error? It just breaks there with no further information.
static void Main()
{
Application.EnableVisualStyles();
Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false);
Application.Run(new FormMain());

Hi,
How Do I create an instance of a derived class from an instance of a
base class, essentially wrapping up an existing base class with some
additional functionality. The reason I need this is because I am not
always able to control/create all the different constructors the base
class has. My problem can be described in code as follows ...
/* This is the base class with a whole heap of
constructors/functionality*/
public class Animal

Previously I used to create user controls if I wanted to use a
specific set of controls in multiple pages, however I want to deploy
my control in other applications so I thought of creating custom
controls.
Only problem is that I'm used to designing my controls in a WYSIWYG
(tm) way (i.e. using the designer and writing HTML tags). The only way
I found to create custom controls was to create controls dynamically,
set their properties and...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
