Reading and Writing files using Streamreader/StreamWriter

Hi,

I am reading a file (c:\address.txt ) using streamreader and I want to make
changes to a line in the file and save it.
will there be a locking issue if I read and write to the samefile
simultaneously?

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi, I am just trying to port an existing simple encryption routine to C#. this routine simply adds/substracts 10 ascii characters to each character in a text file (except quotes). The routine for decrypting the file works fine however when I encrypt the file, several characters are corrupted. when I looked into it they are always extended ascii characters (eg "x" which is ascii character 120 gets translated to ascii character 130 which...

Hello, First let me tell you that I'm very new to C# and learning as I go. I'm trying to write a client application to communicate with a server (that I didn't write). Each message from the server is on one line (\r\n at end) and is formed as - each of which is seperated by a space. Arguments with spaces in them are enclosed in quotations. So, I'm able to open a connection to the server. When I send a message to

I must read a very heavy-weight text plain file (usually .txt extension) )and replace a given character with another given character in all text inside the file. I'm still having problems reading EBCDIC files. Currently itlooks like the lower range (0 to 127) is working. I have triedthe following code pages 20284, 20924, 1140, 37, 500 and 20127.By working I get the correct answer by taking the decimal valueand using that as an index to an array that will map to thecorrect EBCDIC value in hex. By larger values, an example would be "AA" in EBCDIC hex wouldgive me the value of 63 in decimal (ASCII) when...

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
