DataList EditCommand displaying Different EditItemTemplat es

Hello,

I have a data list that displays data (over 20 fields) comprised from
different tables. Right now when user clicks edit button, all fields turn
into textboxes, so user can change values.

But I want to break down what user can edit at one time, I want different
section (fields from 1 table) of ItemTemplate to be editable at one time. So
each section will have its own edit button which call EditCommand and only
that section will turn into editable texboxes. I guess I need different
EditItemTemplat es for each section, not sure if it's possible?

Is it possible? How?

Hi, I'm trying to create a page with a datalist that loads from a template the ItemTemplate, which contains a linkbutton that should have the commandname = "edit" But when I click on the link button nothing happens. I tried also the findcontrol method, without any result. That's the template: <asp:LinkButton ID="button1" Runat="server" Text=''

Interested in more .NET stuff visit www.dedicatedsolutions.co.uk The DataList is not as powerful as the DataGrid. It requires more work from you since it has no default data presentation format. However, the DataGrid begins to get very cumbersome as the number of columns of data you present increases. Anything more than half a dozen columns or so and you probably induce horizontal scrolling - a real no-no for me. If you put such a...

I'm a bit confused by the datalist. I can put an item in the datalist in editmode by the following dtlBooks.EditItemIndex = e.Item.ItemInde BindBooks( This works great, the problem is when I bind the books if less or more books get returned the ItemIndex points to a different book - so the user gets the wrong one in editmode Is there a way to stop this? If the user deletes it's even worse :)

Hi, Is the datalist meant for one table or can I use it to display information from 2 different tables? Or should I be looking at a datagrid instead? I began my code and kinda ran into a snag where my last two columns I am displaying are ID fields, one for clientid and the other for empid. What I would really like is to display their actual names instead of the ids.

I have a dataset that is made up of info from 2 tables. I have created a relationship between these 2 and have added it to the dataset. My datalist is working perfectly minus one little problem, the very last field in my itemtemplate is an ID field from the child table. I would like to display the Name of the company as opposed to the ID. Is there a way to do this? I have read that there is a method called GetChildRows, but I am unsure...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
