Sizing and display of formview control template in design view

I'm using a formview but have come across a frustrating problem.

If I have the width of the formview set to a specific size e.g. 960px I
can see all the template as it would be displayed to a user when in
design view. Sometimes it might not initially display like this but a
click on the right hand side handle of the control forces it to resize
according to the width property.

However, if I set the width to 100% I cannot get the template to
display correctly in design view, it is all compacted on the left hand
side. This makes attempting to add controls very difficult.

I know I could set a fixed width whilst designing and then change it to
100% but I shouldn't need to.

Is there a simple way around this problem?

Hello, I am pulling data from a SQL Server table. One field that is (varchar 4000) is used to show notes. I am using a FormView for showing and editing the data. When the form is in Item view, the text runs together. All the line breaks are missing. When I enter into Edit mode, the text is formatted as it was entered (line breaks). How can I fix this so that when in "Item" mode, the line breaks show?

Hello, I am creating an edit template for a FormView control, changing one of the textboxes to a dropdown box. The dropdown will be populated from a simple table with the primary key, and a description (i.e. a colors table, so there is a colors ID and a color description). The data source the FormView is pulling data from stores (in this example) the primary key for the colors table. My ultimate goal is when the FormView goes into...

Hi, I have a problem with bindings in a formview. I have a formview; in the insert template i've created a wizard control and inside it i have an HTML table with some textboxes bound to the sqldatasource of the formview. If i put this textboxes outside the table everything works well, but as soon as i put them inside the table (in order to organize the layout in the right way) they doesn't work. They works only as eval() and not bind()...

I'm trying to create a formview bound to a sqldatasource, and use a stored procedure to insert data from the formview into several tables. I have some simplified code below, the real code is much longer but this should illustrate the problem: <asp:FormView ID="bookFormView" runat="server" DataSourceID="bookSqlDataSource"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:textBox id="name" text='<%# Eval("name") %>'

Hi I have 2 update buttons in my FormView ('Apply' and 'OK'). I want both buttons to update the data source but the 'OK' button should redirect afterwards. I can see which button is clicked in the ItemCommand event but I can't redirect from here because the ItemUpdated event hasn't fired yet. I can put a variable in the code-behind class which is gets the

Hi, I have a FormView where nothing gets rendered past the opening <ItemTemplatetag. The FormView Header renders but nothing else. If I put garbage in an Eval statement, no errors are raised and the page loads but, of course, with no data in the FormView. If I put a div inside the ItemTemplate, it does not render. In Design view, my FormView shows up just as a grey form and says: 'Right-click or choose the Edit Templates . . .". I...

Hi, I'm hoping that someone in this group can shed some light on an issue I'm having with a Formview. I have a Web User Control (.ascx) with a Formview. The Formview contains 2 Multiviews, one in the EditItemTemplate and one in the InsertItemTemplate. Each of those Multiviews contains several Views, and each view contains several controls such as textboxes, checkboxes etc. Those controls are bound to the Formview's datasource, which...

ASP.NET 2.0 aspx page with a FormView bound to an ObjectDataSource to view, add and edit records. Can anyone point me to a sample of how to retain the user entered control values when an insert fails? In other words, when inserting a new record, user enters data in the controls, but the insert fails. When the page posts back all the controls are empty or at their default values. I would like to retain the user enter values so they can...

Before I pull out what little hair I have left, I'm swallowing my pride and asking the Oracles of .Net: I'm trying to set a property in a dropdown list control in a FormView, based on a session parameter. The control is in the edit template of the FormView, which is not visible from the view template. I'm able to change properties of controls on the view template. However, when trying to set them on the edit template the control...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
