Webpart zone in master page?

Hi, I have a question about webparts in master pages.
If I add a webpart to a webpartzone located in a master page will that
webpart be available to all .aspx pages that uses that master page or
just the page I added the webpart from?
Is there some way to control this behaviour?

Thanks in advance

Mat Lucky,

Sorry, webparts can't be added to the master page. Web part personalization
is stored by page in the personalization tables.

You can add the same webpart too diffent pages though.

Check out my cool web parts pages.

Thanks for DWS's input,

Hi Mats,

As for ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart page, the personalization info is stored in
persistent storage as per page. In other words, each page(concrete page
rather than master page) will have its own personalized data (if have
enabled webpart ) no matter they've used the same master page or not...

I am having some trouble with my webpart connections on postbacks. I basically have two webparts in the same zone, 1 provider and 1 consumer. The provider has a dropdown list and submit button and the consumer has a text box that displays data depending on what is selected in the provider. On the initial page hit, The consumer connection is established before the CreateChildControls event (which is fine), but on the postback, the...

Hi All, I have a scenario where I have a Master Page for all of my WebPages, and in one of the pages I update a database record, after that I want to refresh this WebPart on Master Page manually. How is this possible? The problem is on Button Click to update record in database, first the Page_Load event will be called and the Master Page gets refreshed, after that the actual updation code happens. Hence the WebPart still shows the...

Hello, I'm trying out web parts for the first time. I put a manager and a zone on my page, then put a control in the zone. Documentation states that the minimize button is there by default. It is at design time, but does not show up at runtime. What am I missing? Thanks,

The following code is on my master page, site.master.cs: // programatically add a WebPart from a User Control file Control uc = this.LoadControl(@"ucLotListSimple.ascx"); uc.ID = "MyWp"; GenericWebPart MyWp = WebPartManager1.CreateWebPart(uc); WebPartManager1.AddWebPart(wp2, wpzUpper, 1); The last line above works fine only if the WebPartZone wpzUpper is located on the master page itself.

Being you can drag webparts from zone to zone, is there a way to control drag speed while dragging/scrolling up the page? I have a list of webparts that may go beyond the page. If a user wants to drag the bottom webpart up to the top, I was wondering if the speed of this drag/scroll action can be controlled. Thanks

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
