Publishing software

Hi

I work for a small company that publishes a number of paper based
newsletters for companies. It also supplies these newsletters as PDF's
and sends weekly updates (e-bulletins as we call them). It also have a
related conference business.

They are finally deciding to scrap their old websites and update them.
They basically need a top portal that shows the news from every
publication downwards. They need a website for every newsletter and
seperate corporate/conference websites. They want each website to be
branded with their look and feel, and they want it to be easily updated
(the less time spent the better). They want to be able to uploads
adverts and easily track them. Stats reports need to be easy to access
and understandable to them. It needs to be able to handle customer
accounts so when they log in they get access to the newsletter info
they have paid for. They need a shopping cart to buy their products. OK
they basically want the earth and do very little in the likes of
maintaining it :)

Does anybody know of any good solutions, ideally complete, ideally in
ASP.NET 2.0 (or 1.1 I guess). I am looking for more or less a full
solution where the major work will be in the graphical templates.

Does anybody work in the publishing field, can anybody give any
recommendations of any "off the shelf" solutions so to speak. If I had
the time I would do it myself, but unfortunately it doesn't look like
that's going to happen now for a number of reasons.

Cheers

Alex

Every web developer is in the "publishing field" and every developer who has
any experience at all has tried asking people like you -- begging them in
fact -- please take your medication.

I think you misread the question Clinton, and you misunderstand my
definition of "publishing " in this instance. I meant in the
magazine/newsletter publishing industry, not "Build/Publish Web Site"
that you are thinking about. The fact is that there are CMS packages
available that specifically target this industry and its culture, and I
was interested to see if anybody had any experience in them, written
specifically in ASP.NET, so I may at least be able to maintain any code
issues that may occur.

To be honest I'm very surprised to see that flaming exists in this
forum at all (I certainly haven't seen it before). This is a friendly
developer community not a trolling hole. That certainly was not a
friendly post.

Cheers

Alex

Folks, I need some advice. I hpoe some of you can advise me. Our church's weekly bulletin has been published on paper for years. It is created in MS Word and sent to the publishing company. Now I need to publish the same information on our new web site. But I don't want to put an image of the paper bulletin on the web site. I want it to look natural there, as if it were produced with god web design principles.

I'm trying to get to the bottom of a problem I've been having with publishing a freebie website. I'm using a program called WebEasy. Using a very simple site upload as an example, in this case a picture of a couple of antique chairs. I paste a single .jpg image, and save the web page file, which gets saved as an .alb file. Then, after choosing the "build website" function, the following files are found in the folder for the website:

I was able to publish my first ASPNET2 site to my hosting server earlier today without any problems. I gave it the name of subdirectory that would hold the site, entered my ftp password (even though I told it to upload it to http://www.mysite...), hit okay and away it went. Now all of a sudden it isn't working. When I try to upload, I do everything exactly the same and yet the password gets rejected. I've tried deleting the entire...

Hello I have set up a new windows server 2003 standard edition for training (on new software we have developed) and am having problems publishing webs to it from VS 2005. I have a C# Web Service and a test web site. I can publish to other servers but not the one for training. Notice that the message states that publish succeeded, but no files are copied.

This is sample code from my next upcoming release of xtopdf, which will support more input formats, such as CSV, XLS, TDV and ODBC data. http://jugad.livejournal.com/2006/07/07/ Enjoy, and feedback welcome.

I published the software i've designed but it seems that since it's designed as a service, i'm not able to use the usual publishing tools in VS05. When i try to install the software, it says i need to run installutil.exe by hand and i'd like the installer to do that for me.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
