Guys, in the code that follows, why does the method F() still compile, even if
DBG is undefined? Inside method G(), the code inside <#if DBG> does not compile
(notice that I can write whatever I want in there, I will not receive a
compilation error). I do get such an error in F() - because of the garbage I
intentionally put there - but F() should not compile in the first place.
Am I misusing this attribute?!
#undef DBG

Hi,
I am used to working in Visual FoxPro and I would like to be able to create
a database and store and retrieve information from it. What is the simplest
way to do it and what should I be using as there are many choices to choose
from.
My database will contain a lot of records.
TIA

Hi,
We have an ASP.NET application built in Release mode via Visual Studio.
All of the C# code is in the code-behind files (i.e. *.aspx.cs files)
and there is no C# in the *.aspx files themselves.
In this scenario, will the following setting have any detrimental
effect if left set to true when running a Release build described
above?

By default, the web.config file of an ASP.NET application contains the
following debug attribute for the compilation element:
<compilation debug="true"/>
My question is this: When doing the the final build, the compile of the
application is done in "Release" mode. The .dll file is created without a
..pdb file. Is it still necessary to change the debug attribute to "false"
during the final build when compiling in "Release" mode...

I have a number of web projects converted from 1.1 to 2.0 in VS2005.
I am methodically seeing the error below:
The element 'compilation' has invalid child element 'compilers'. List of
possible elements expected: 'assemblies, buildProviders, codeSubDirectories,
expressionBuilders'.
Here's what the web config looks like. The error doesn't cause any issues
and according to the MSDN documentation this is valid. So why is VS2005

Hello,
Is there any general tips on how to solve this problem: my Debug
version runs fine but when I do a Release version I get error
messages!?
I'm hoping it is a simple option somewhere or a flag I can set...

Jonas

Hi,
I'm porting code from Windows to HP-UX 11, compiling with g++.
I'm getting a compilation error on the system's debug.h include file, which is included very indirectly through a series of other system include files. The one I am including is <map> .
The errors I am getting are:
/opt/hp-gcc-4.2.1/lib/gcc/ia64-hp-hpux11.23/4.2.1/../../../../include/c++/4.2.1/debug/debug.h: At global scope:...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
