Hi all,
I'm trying to update a record using ObjectDataSource but got the following
error:
The 'PhotoCount' property on the type specified by the DataObjectTypeName
property in ObjectDataSource 'odsAlbums' is readonly and its value cannot be
set.
PhotoCount is a readonly property in my object and I've already set it to be

I am passing the whole object instead or parameters in my select and update
methods.
I can get the updated object if I set UpdateMethod, let ASP.NET autogenerate
an update button, and then press update after making changes, but I don't
want that update button.
How can I get the updated object when the user presses one of my other
action buttons?

I'm having some trouble using the ObjectDataSource in ASP.NET 2.0.
I have a wrapper that contains the static methods for Select and Update. The
Update-method takes the business object as parameter.
When the Update-method is invoked by the ObjectDataSource, the object
referenced is not the same object returned by the Select-method, but a new
object with only the values from the Edit-template. So basically I get a
reference to a useless...

LS,
I've an object who has an readonly property named Id, this property is
filled from the database with an Identity-value.
When I execute "DetailsView1.UpdateItem(true);" then I get the
following exception:
The 'Id' property on the type specified by the DataObjectTypeName
property in ObjectDataSource 'ObjectDataSource1' is readonly and its

Hi Everybody
Just playing with ObjectDataSource and noticed the following.
I have a Gridview which binds to a ObjectDataSource. ObjectDataSource
gets data from a typed dataset created with VWD. In the table from
which the data is coming has a Primary Key field.
Gridview is set to edit mode. DataKeyNames = "PK_Field". Now if PK
field is not readonly, then data is updated successfully. But if I set
PK Field to readonly, then data is not...

Hello
I am trying to create a "easy to use" gridview with filters (dropdownlist in
headers), sorting...and much more....
In order to do that, i prefer to use a objectdatasource (ODS) beacause
filters and sort are automaticly managed....
I would like that my own gridview (inherited from
system.web.ui.webcontrols.gridview) includes a ODS which I expose by
properties. In that way, I use this "advanced" grid view without adding on

I've got a simple (I think) asp.net application.
I've created a DataSet in App_Code/ItemDataSet.xsd. Tested connection,
seemed to work fine.
In my ASPX file, I first dropped an ObjectDataSource onto the form, and
pointed it to the dataset created above.
I then dropped a GridView on the form, and selected the ObjectDataSource
I created above. In the Design view it seems to be at least loading the

I have an business object bound to a formview with through an object
datasource, in edit mode when i click update i receive the following
error:
The 'ActionID' property on the type specified by the DataObjectTypeName
property in ObjectDataSource 'odsAction' is readonly and its value
cannot be set.
This is correct as the actionid property is readonly (being the primary
key).

Tried this over in CSharp.General and didn't get anything, so I
thought I'd try again here. If there's an AJAX specific group I could
ask this in, please let me know...I did look.
I'm trying to code what I think is a fairly typical Master/Detail
scenario with two GridViews, using AJAX. Using the Northwind sample,
I have two ObjectDataSources - one which pulls data from the Orders
table, and one that pulls the related data from .
Each...

I've got Gentle.Net objects bound to an ObjectDataSource. I have a
grid that comes up fine. I then have a DetailView that is bound to
another ObjectDataSource. When I try to update from the DetailView, I
can put a break point in the ItemInserting and/or ItemUpdating
handlers and step through and watch when the object is set. Each of
the object properties, minus the ID field, are set. The ID field is
left to zero, as this is the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
