The good news:
Along with Python-2.4 comes really good news to Windows users. Yes,
you now CAN build extension modules yourself using the SAME C++
compiler and linker Python is built with itself. Everything you need
is available at no costs (except download hassle and installation
time). Once your system is set up properly its just a matter of
running 'python setup.py build'. No longer waiting for someone else to
build binaries and a...

I'm still using Beta 2 of VS2005. I'd like to be able to precompile my
web site (similar to 1.x) so that I don't have to put source files on
the deployment server. Is there anyway to do this other than with the
command line aspnet_compiler.exe tool?
Thanks,
Bryan

Hi peeps
I've just moved my dev system to Win2k3 / VS2005 (from Win2k/VS2k3) and I'm
having a problem.
I've setup a new website in IIS, enabled .net, fpse, etc.
From VS2005, if I choose Open Website, I can type in the location of my
server by entering http://10.0.0.253:4040. That works fine, and VS loads the
project.

Can anyone shed some light on why compiling and running web-apps is so slow
in VS2005. I have a solution with 3 web-apps, 20 or so library projects and
several winforms apps. All in all it totals about 150,000 lines of C#.
I've only just converted this to VS2005 project but am frustrated with the
following:
- VS2005 insists on compiling all projects when I press F5 to run an
application even though no code has changed in the other...

I need to compile a VS2005 project to run using the 1.1 framework (i.e.,
app.config containing <supportedRuntime version="v1.1.4322" /> ).
(If I just compile and run with such a setting it functions, but I can't
tell which framework it's using.)
Is there any way to specifically compile for 1.1 with the standard Studio,
or do I have to seek recourse with plug-ins like the following?

Actually, I was under the impression that the socket module relied on one of
the external libraries to work, since it didn't work when I compiled it.
But reading the readme again I realized that the socketmodule is supposed to
compile out of the box. So I compiled Python again on VS2005 instead of
2008 (the error I posted that didn't work on 2008 or 2005 was trying to
compile one of...

I've got a hint from a gentleman here to use the
following syntax.
public static FileInfo
GetFilesRegExp(this DirectoryInfo di, string pat)
{
Regex re = new Regex(pat);
return Array.FindAll(
di.GetFiles(),
(f) =re.IsMatch(f.Name));

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
