>Shouldn't this be '/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0' ? Based on the following
values, that's what I'd expect.
I changed the ORCALE_HOME environment variable to the above suggested value
and got a new error!! That's progress, right? I'm now told:
cx_Oracle.DatabaseError: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
/usr/bin/sh: cx_Oracle.DatabaseError:: not found
Is this any help?
Thanks!

Using Oracle 8i enterprise on win 2000 (sp3)
Installed the standard configuration & whenever I make a connection it
takes about 10 secs. It's running on a P1900 with 1gb Ram so no reason
there for slowness.
Once I'm connected the queries work pretty much instantanously but to
connect using SQLPLUS, Toad, ODBC, OLEDB all take about 10 secs. I
connect using OLEDB from Visual Basic development environment & after
the 1st connection...

What is the *truth* when it comes to configuring Oracle files on an
Enterprise Virtual Array like an HP EVA3000 or EVA5000 or an EMC
Symmetrix frame.
As I Understand It -
A Virtual Array is a storage appliance with a large number of disks
(say over 50), dual-path controller access and, significantly, a very
large disk cache. The cache is supported by front-end and back-end
(disk-side) processors and a range of algorithms that aim to...

Hi all,
Is there a DB2 equivilant to Oracle's DB Link functionality ? I have two
DB2 databases and I need to get access to the tables in one from the other.
In Oracle I would just create a DB Link between the two instances. Is such
a thing possible between two DB2 databases ?
Thanks in advance,
Nick

I'm using Access to view data from an Oracle 9i database. When I try
to link an Oracle database, the PC appears to Hang before finally
presenting the list of tables to choose from. It's a large Oracle
Database (lots of objects) and I know it's pulling every object over to
make up this list. It may take as long as 3 minutes of waiting before
seeing the table list. Is there a workaround/configuration setting for
this?

Hi Everyone
I am trying to acces Oracle using oracle client classes
provided by .net in an asp .net application. But I keep on getting following
error
"System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 "
All the solutions mentioned to this problem on various newsgroups indicate a
setting in security permission. I have given all sorts of permission to the
oracle and ora92 folder including everyone-full control. But...

The machine is running XP Pro with all the latest service packs, etc. I must
access an Oracle database so I installed the Oracle client stuff. I can
query Oracle from a Windows app, no problem. Using the exact same code (copy
and paste) into a Web app I get the following error "Error while trying to
retrieve text for error ORA-01019". Security I thought, so I use
Impersonation on the Web site, then the aspnet_wp.exe crashes with "The...

I resolved this issue.
If you are using an Oracle XA DataSource, Oracle's JDBC driver
will automatically issue a COMMIT when it sees a "DROP TABLE foobar"
statement.
Oracle's JDBC driver cannot properly execute a
DROP TABLE statement unless you are using a non-XA DataSource.
With the non-XA Oracle JDBC DataSource, I can happily execute

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
