Dynamically added user control throws object not set

HI,

I'm adding a usercontrol to a webform in the following way
Dim ctlRate As New ctlRatesTable
ctlRate.SomeMet hod()
Me.Page.Control s.Add(ctlRate)

Where sub routine "SomeMethod " attempts to set the text property of a
lable webcontrol. The problem is that the lable hasn't been created.
I've tried calling EnsureChildCont rols() before using the lable control
but this hasn't helped.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Andy

Try putting it also like this:

***
Dim ctlRate As New ctlRatesTable

' FOLLOWING TWO LINES IN DIFFERENT ORDER THAN ORIGINALLY
Me.Page.Control s.Add(ctlRate)
ctlRate.SomeMet hod()

And yes, inside ctlRatesTable, before accessing child controls make sure
EnsureChildCont rols is called (and child controls instantiated in
CreateChildCont rols method)

I have a UI that needs a couple of threads to do some significant processing on a couple of different forms - and while it's at it, update the UI (set textboxes, fill in listviews). I created a base class for the worker class, and made up some functions/delegates to handle the invoke stuff for the UI and that was fine for a prototype. I rewrote this chunk, broke things out into different classes - but the threading is still the same - and...

Hello, I have a page with a RadioButtonList and a PlaceHolder control. The RadioButtonList's AutoPostBack attribute is set to TRUE and its SelectedIndexChanged event loads one of three UserControls into the PlaceHolder's child control collection depending upon which of the three radio buttons is selected. Each of the three UserControls have postback events themselves triggered by button clicks. The problem I'm having is keeping track of...

I need to dynamically add an ImageButton control to a user control and and do some server-side processing when the user clicks it. While I the ImageButton is added to the user control at runtime, as needed, I'm having trouble wiring up its click event procedure. The problem is that when I go to subscribe the ImageButton to the delegate, the ImageButton is <undefined> (i.e., throws the "object not found" exception). Note that I'm using...

I am dynamically adding a user control to each row in a gridview. The reason I am doing it dynamically is the user control is different depending on certain data in the gridview. The gridview contains a placeholder and I add the control to it, the user control is a formview bound to an object datsource. This works great until I post back the page and the user control disappears. What am I doing wrong? Regards, Chris. Protected Sub...

On my usercontrol is a button and a label. Everytime the button is clicked a counter which is stored in the viewstate is increased and displayed in the label.

I am trying to get to grips with the asp.net ajaxcontrol toolkit, and am trying to add a tabbed control to the page. I have no problems within the aspx file, and can dynamically manipulate a tabcontainer which has 1 panel already, however I want to try create the TabPanels dynamically. I followed the advice here: http://www.asp.net/learn/ajax-videos/video-156.aspx (3rd comment - Joe Stagner)

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
