Hello,
I'm getting the following error when I update a referenced assembly, but not
recompile my client application project:
"The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'xxxxxx' does not
match the assembly reference"
I've searched the net for this error and I've read that this should be due
to a version change of the referenced assembly (and thus it is suggested

Hello group.
I have an app which can load "plugins" assemblies that are described
in the registry (each registry entry gives the full path to the plugin
..dll file). The plugins may be anywhere on the disk.
Each plugin defines a class which implements an interface known to the
app. The main app loads the plugin with Assembly.LoadFrom and then
uses Assembly.GetTypes() and Type.FindInterface to find the concrete
types in the plugin that...

I have a third party assembly that I need to strong name because the C#
project I'm referencing it in will be strong named.
Every time I compile my project I'm getting "Assembly generation failed --
Referenced assembly 'xxxxx' does not have a strong name".
The referenced assembly is a .NET assembly that does not have a strong name.
It there a way to strong name it? I DO NOT have the source code for the
referenced third party assembly.

Suppose an assembly "Main" is using class "A" from another Assembly "Dep" as
follows :
A a = new A();
a.MethodOne();
At what time is the call to MethodOne linked to the actual MSIL (method
body) of the method? Does this occur when "Main" is build or does it happen
when main is loaded and Jitted? Also is the linking achieved by the full
method name( this is what is seen in the IL generated by ILDASM : e.g : call

Hi,
I'm trying to serialize a type contained in assembly referering to another assembly in GAC.

Hello,
I have a control derived from a 3rd party control. My control sits in a
class library. I have an app referencing my class library. When I
compile the app, I'm told:
c:\pd\NET\Examples\AssRef\AssRef\bin\Debug\Mine.dll Referenced class
'Mine.Fred' has base class or interface 'Theirs.Flintstone' defined in an
assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly
'Theirs'.

I have one of those seemingly simple questions that evades/confuses me.
I've created an assembly with bass classes (classes meant to be inherited in
other assemblys). In a secondary assembly (my business layer) I created a
class which inherits from a base class in the first assembly....so far so
good.
If I create a third assembly (my UI layer) and add reference in it to the
business layer and I access a public variable in the business...

I have a common assembly installed into the GAC and is referenced by most of
my ASP.NET projects. This is fine for compiled web applications as the
reference to the assembly is added in the Visual Studio projects. I had a
need recently to create a couple of scripted ASPX pages (that is, there's no
code behind file), and unless I put the assembly in the application's bin
folder, it results in a namespace cannot be found error where the...

Hello,
I have created a solution which has both a web UI and a winform UI, the
latter is just for administrators. The Web UI (a Web Application Project)
and the winform project both reference the same BLL in a separate assembly,
and I have all three projects in a single solution file for development,
with the two UI's each having a project reference to the BLL assembly. I
created a Setup and Deployment package for the winform app...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
