Hi all,
We have an existing website, built with VS2003, that we're in the
process of migrating to use in VS2005. After the migration wizard
completes, then all of the .aspx web pages are changed to lower case.
For example, if there was a webpage named "HelloWorld.asp x" in the old
format, then the new web page filename will be "helloworld.asp x". Is
there a reason for this? Is there a configuration setting that the
migration tool will preserve the case of the filesnames?
Any ideas?

cause new ms standard is to use all lowercase for aspx file... :-)
In all seriousness, I would like an answer to this.
Why is the ASP.NET 2.0 migration tool changing the names of the files
from mixed case, to all lower case? Is there a way to run the
migration tool and leave the filenames intact?

I have VB6, and eventually plan to upgrade to dotnet.
I will soon start writing an application that will be mostly local
(client?) but will interface with a server a few times, to authenticate
users (and assign a user code), and at the end of the program, to upload
some data back to the server.
I figure I can write all the local stuff in VB6 (I'll have to learn more
about the server side stuff, never done any of that before) but I...

Hello!
I need a mdb 2 PostgtreSQL migration tool (something similar to pgAdmin
plugin - "Database migration wizard") that don't needs M$ Windows or
XWindow.
It should also transfer data and relations (!) from .mdb database.
I wondering anybody knows a tool with this functions?
Or maybe there is another way? mdb -> txt -> pgsql???
Thanks for any solutions.

I've been testing a variety of database schema migration tools. Our
company purchased Embarcadero Change Manager a while ago but we've
been less than satisfied with the results.
We are looking for a tool that can compare a source/developer database
with a target/client database and then make the necessary changes.
The tool will need to update stored procedures, tables, indexes,
constraints, etc. The tool will also need to make the...

I have the following problem:
I need to migrate a large site (~10.000 HTML pages) to a new server.
Since the target Server and new applications for this site will use
ColdFusion, this server is not capable of executing the SSI Statements
used in all of the pages. Mainly only the SSI "include virtual"

Dear All,
I have a very small test project to convert asp to asp.net using the
Microsoft/Artisan ASP to ASP.NET Migration Assistant
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/using/migrating/aspmig/aspmigasst/default
..aspx). Everything works fine when my include file is in the same directory
as the asp file that includes the include file. What I am having trouble
with is that the migration tool doesn't see my include file when it resids
in a...

We have a web site that is being converted from the 1.1 format into
2.0. I've noticed that after the web project has been converted, the
first time that the solution is opened in VS, all of the aspx and ascx
filenames are changed to lowercase.
The filenames are not being changed during the conversion process.
After conversion completes, the filenames remain unchanged. However,
the first time that the solution is opened in VS2005, the...

We have a program written in VB6 (over 100,000 lines of code and 230 UI
screens) that we want to get out of VB and into a better language. The
program is over 10 years old and has already been ported from VB3 to
VB6, a job which took over two years. We would like to port it to
Python, but we need to continue to offer upgrades and fixes to the
current VB6 version. Does anybody know of ways we could go about
rewriting this, one screen at a...

Hallöchen!
I'd like to map general unicode strings to safe filename. I tried
punycode but it is case-sensitive, which Windows is not. Thus,
"Hallo" and "hallo" are mapped to "Hallo-" and "hallo-", however, I
need uppercase Latin letters being encoded, too, and the encoding
must contain only lowercase Latin letters, numbers, underscores, and
maybe a little bit more. The result should be more legible than
base64, though.

I have been researching the best approach to migrating a VB6 application into a VB.NET application. There is a lot of information out there but most of it recommends that you "train in the migration process before jumping into it". One site even recommends that this training process should take at least 2-3 weeks. I'm not sure how you can train for such a process...but maybe I'll find something while I'm researching.
I was wondering if anyone...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
