aspnet user rights when using COM

Hi,
I have vb6 exe which is used trough COM interface.
Interface and exe works ok, when I use it from .NET windows program.
Then I am working as a user, which I am logged in into current computer -
domain user.

But when I use interface from web service, case is a whole different. I know
that then
I am working as an ASPNET user and it seems that process end's up in some
point in vb6 exe when
I am working this way.

I have included ASPNET user into administrators group.

Could anyone help me with this issue? Thanks.

You should better impersonate your ASP-net application with the credentials
of an user/administrator.

I have an ASPNET app that is running as the ASPNET machine user. It makes a call to the API CreateProcessWithLogonW. On Windows XP it executes without a problem, but on Windows 2000, I get an "Access is Denied" exception. I tried adding the ASPNET account to all the items in the "User Rights Assignment" list but to no avail. The only think that work was adding the ASPNET account to the local admin group; then it executed perfectly. ...

Windows Server 2003 is supposed to include Framework 1.1 right. I don't have it here but have reports that the web is not running. The users say that the %COMPUTERNAME%\ASPNET user doesn't exist. Questions: 1. is this user replaced by the %COMPUTERNAME%\NETWORK SERVICE user in Windows 2003 Server (IIS6)? 2. if the ASPNET user still needed to run .NET apps and it's missing, how would you add to a Windows 2003 Server box?

Hi, i'm building an web application for anonymous users. They can take a look in the website, nothing more. In order to perform other actions, the anonymous user must be logged. So i create an aspx page with the CreateUserWizard control. The user can fill his username, password etc .... My problem is: when an user fills everything and clicks on button "create an account", nothing happens (no error, but no user account created). I...

I created a walkthrough and couldn't connect to my sql server. I looked up the problem and MSDN told me to create an ASPNET "User" in SQL Svr. It worked, but is that right? Do I have to do that for web projects. How does that user relate to the other users? I'm not seeing the logic. I thought maybe a "Role" that I could assign all users to would make more sense, but why have an ASPNET in SQL at all? -- MichaelM

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
