Hi,
I've been researching this, and I'm not sure if what I'm trying to do is
possible, but I thought that I'd ask:
I have two webservers/websites.
The first webserver/website is running Win2K/IIS5, and I want it to act
as a kind of "portal" to the other webserver/website.

I applied aspnet_regsql to SQL2K which was working fine throughout Beta 2
development. After installing Visual Studio and SQL Express RTM my
application has blown up. Logging in to the application became
realllllllllllly slow. Content in LoginView Role Groups was not displaying
even after a user in a role had logged in.
It was taking about 15 seconds or so for the login control to display when
the login link was selected on the homepage....

Hi to all,
I'm trying to use the copy database wizard to copy a database from the
2000 version to the 2005 version of sql server. I choose not to copy
logins so I expect to find a database with only an administrative login
o none at all. When I start the created package it throws an error
saying:
errorCode=-1073548784 description=Executing the query "EXEC
dbo.sp_grantdbaccess @loginame = N'PresIng1', @name_in_db = N'PresIng1'
" failed...

Hi,
I have(had) an old Win2k Server server with about 30 web site databases
(SQL 2000) that just went under due to hardware problems. Thankfully, I
have backups of all the databases plus the MDF and LDF files from the
hard drive.
I want to move all of these sites and their data to a newer server
(Win2003) running SQL2000.

Hello All,
I just finished reading an interesting article by Scott about App Domains:
http://odetocode.com/Articles/305.aspx
Scott, I have a question about the section "Shadow Copies and Restarts". You
talked about "Drain Stopped" and "Shadow Copy" concepts in this article. I
maintain a web application which is in production. Every morning the way we
build the project is using Visual Studio's IDE to use "Build ->
Build<proj-name>"...

On a W2K3 box running IIS 6 I have a web app that implements Forms
Authentication mixed with AD (the login page autheticates users against AD &
impersonates them with each page request). This means my process identity
varies, and is not necessarily "ASPNET" or "IUSR...". My process identity
for any given page request will be user1, user2, user3, etc. (there's a lot
of them)
This web app needs to copy files (Word documents) from our old...

Hi,
I am building a website that allows you to login at any time to access
specfic user information etc .. In the past i have always used form
authentication to lock down any protected areas and this has worked
fine. My problem is this time a user does not 'have' to login to any
areas of the website but the option is there if they want. I could
implement a messy Session based login which queries a sql database of
users but was wondering...

Hi,
I have copied a MS SQL database to my local machine and am testing it
with ASP pages, locally, on IIS. I have a db connect page that keeps
the current connections for the live database. My question is, as the
local db is named 'local,' is there another name I need to give it and
thus call from the connection page?
Also, when copying a db, are the permissions (username and pass)
copied over with it?
Thanks,

When would I use "Copy Web site" over "Publish Website" or visa versa? Why
would I use the Web Deployment Project vs these options?
I want to make sure no one can pull up/read/download my vb source code (in
..vb files).
I would prefer easy update of the site (code or aspx.)
Thanks.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
