Hi,
Does anyone know if in the next version of asp.net / C# (2.0)
Would be possible to write an ISAPI Filter in C#?
Thanx. 4 4789
AFAIK, no. But, you can get the same functionality as an ISAPI filter by
using HttpModules and HttpHandlers, so I am not sure I see the need. What, in
particular, are you aiming at doing with an ISAPI filter that you cannot do
with built in .NET functionality?
A few links: http://aspalliance.com/726 - shows how to embed resources to avoid handlers http://www.gotdotnet.com/workspaces/...5-3fa0f4742032 - sample project with a handler http://www.15seconds.com/issue/030522.htm - aimed at 1.1, but you can use
this to get an idea of how a module is created http://west-wind.com/weblog/posts/2473.aspx - note this gotcha if you drop
the code in your project app_code folder http://weblogs.asp.net/ShankuN/archi...16/215487.aspx - image

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this is more a feature of IIS than .Net.
There's talk about this for IIS 7.0, but everything's in early beta so it's
hard to tell.
You might want to check out: http://blogs.msdn.com/david.wang/arc...ory/10432.aspx
for some details though.

native support of .net filters will be supported in IIS 7.0, which is still
some time away, as it requires the next version of the O/S (no 2003
support).

How can i design an ISAPI Filter that works with IIS-6.0 on win 2003 platform.
I already have an ISAPI Filter that i designed for working with IIS 5.x and
that works fine .
I am finding a problem with the ISAPI Filter designed for IIS 6 since the
SF_NOTIFY_READ_RAW_DATA is not supported.
Can anyone suggest an alternative for the above notification?
thks for any help.

I had a person tell me the other day that a person would not be able to beat
the efficiency of an ISAPI dll, especially by using handlers/modules. Of
course, they could only say the reason was that it is written in C++, which
should have nothing to do with it.
But, in general, can you write a handler that will handle just as many
connections as an ISAPI dll? Isn't a handler a managed code answer to the
ISAPI dll solution?
Thanks.

Hi All,
I've been looking into options for URL Rewriting in .net, and to be honest,
I haven't seen anything that's easier than the old Classic Asp solution with
an ISAPI filter redirecting to an .asp page with responsibility for handling
the redirect.
I'm now planning to use this solution with my next .net project, and was
wondering if anyone else out there has done this already, and what problems
(if any) arise. Hopefully the news...

I am currently coding an ISAPI filter and I would like to use some .Net
functionality within the filter. However, when I include calls to anything
in the framework, it locks the dll and will not release it until I restart
the machine. Even after restarting the W3SVC and removing it from the list
of ISAPI filters, it still has a lock on it. Any ideas why?

We use an ISAPI filter to convert long urls into short clean ones.
For example:
"Site.com/user/john/"
Is re-written as:
"Site.com/user/userinfo.aspx?uid=john"
Now, "userinfo.aspx" contains a web user control which uses some Atlas functionality;
The web user control contains a "DataList" which gets updated asynchronously
through Atlas when the user clicks a button –the button is the Atlas trigger.

Hi,
I have setup a Sharepoint 2003 server which has an ISAPi filter installed,
now I want to develop a HTTPModule which needs to run before the ISAPI
filter. So my question is, if a HTTPModule and an ISAPI filter are installed
on the same web virtual directory, which one will process first?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
I'm trying to write an ISAPI filter in Python, using the examples that
come in the "isapi" directory of the win32com package. The
installation program itself runs fine, but when I examine the
properties of my web server, my filter has a big red down arrow next to
it. But I can't seem to figure out where I should be looking to find
the trouble. If anyone can point me to the right place (or see an
obvious error in the code...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:

Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
