Difference between Server.Transfer () And Response.Redire ct()

Hello All,

I want to know the Difference Between

Server.Transfer () And Response.Redire ct()?

Response.Redire ct() send a "move" command to the client that sends it to the
new page.

Server.Transfer () does this at the server level.

Server.Transfer () transfers control, on the server, to another page.
Response.Redire ct() sends redirect to the client.
In other words, Server.Transfer () transfers to another page without
involving the client.

Batista,

When a Response.Redire ct is fired the client has posted back to the server
(let's use a post back from a hypothetical "Page1.aspx " for this example)
and then the server sends back the "Page1.aspx " response to the client
machine which tells the client to move to the new page, Page2.aspx.

With Server.Transfer the client posts back to the server, Page1.aspx, but
instead of sending back Page1.aspx, the server compiles and sends back
Page2.aspx circumventing the trip to the client. As far as the client
browser knows it's still on Page1.aspx.

Hi, I'd like to know the performance related differences between Response.Redirect and Server.Transfer. I'd like to redirect the user to a different page. I can either do a Response.Redirect("URL") or a Server.Transfer("URL"). So I'd like to find out which is more efficient/better. Can anyone please tell me or give any pointers to links on the web? Thanks & Regards

I've got a custom HttpHandler to process all requests for a given extension. It gets invoked OK, but if I try to do a Server.Transfer I get an HttpException. A Response.Redirect works, but I really need to avoid the extra round-trip to the client. I've tried Passing the page name, the full URL, and the instance of the handler class to the Transfer method, but everything gets me the same error 500. Any help would be appreciated.

When a server encounters the line Response.Redirect("abcd.asp") in a ASP script, the server tells the browser that it has to be redirected to another page (which is abcd.asp, in this case). The browser then makes a new request to the server to redirect itself to abcd.asp after which the user gets redirected to abcd.asp. But in case of Server.Execute (or Server.Transfer), when the server

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
