I have just written my first page with a datagrid that allows ASC and
DESC sorting. But I want to know how I can get it so that the header
shows the type of sorting that has just been done on it (i.e. Column1
DESC). Also I would need to be able to remove this from the last column
that was sorted on so that it now says just Column2.

I know about the problem if turning the viewstate off the events wil
not fire properly even if I rebind the control in every postback. S
then I started to think how does .Net do it if I turn the viewstat

When binding a dataset to a DataGrid and paging 10 records at a time, is the
entire dataset still encoded and sent to viewstate as well OR just the
current page and what's visible to the user stored in the viewstate on the
browser?
I've added some excerpts from some articles so I'm not sure. Any other MS
links verifying this would be great.

a datagrid. At the bottom of the page there are two buttons “Save Changes”

I have a asp.net page (C#), with a datagrid. I use template for all columns,
and have <asp:requiredfieldvalidator> in with one of the textboxes, to make
sure it's filled in. However, this validation is not firing, even when I

Is there a way to carry data that I have already read from the datagrid from
page to page?
I am looking at my Datagrid that I page through and when the user says get
the next page, I have to go to the database to get the next page. Is there
a way to use the dataset to allow us to read back and forth in it instead of
going back to the database to get it?

Hello
I have a datagrid that has a TemplatedColumn containing a dropdown list
(DDL). This DDL is filled for each datagrid row via the itemcreated created
event.
The first time i postback none of the selections made by the user are
available for each dropdownlist on the server. They all simply have values
equal to the first record of the datasource.... which is not very useful.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
